International racing in recent years have shown that Australia's sprinters are up with best in the world.  They've won races in UK, and several Asian locations.

Almost every year, we see a hot-shot sprinter emerge in Australia.

Thinking about a single extraordinary WIN, what would you offer as the most noteworthy sprinting performance (1100-1400) in Australia since WWII?

Was it Placid Ark, or Miss Andretti, or Manikato, or Maybe Mahal, or Dual Choice, or....

Please support your choice with some reasoning.

What a list to choose from...ridiculous number. The overseas winners are all obviously worthy of consideration.

Hareeba put in two standout performances for mine. He may have only won the G1 Derby Day sprint by a narrow margin but he defied a 4L bias from memory. He was back in the Autumn in better form - flogged them in the Australia Stakes when run at Flemington. 5.5L 1.07.90 that was a day when you saw a champion sprinter at his absolute peak. Was a stunning performance.

Schillaci...4 G1 wins as a 3YO?? Take your pick.

Gold Ace was a very classy sprinter with a good Flemington record. When he won the G1 Derby Day sprint it was low flying - 1:07.50 (600m 0:32.90) - 2.3L.

Was out at Randwick in the 70's when a black horse trained by Tommy Smith called Sticks And Stones smashed the course record for 1200m with his head on his chest. The most memorable win I've seen. Unfortunately was unsound, but contributed significantly to Australian Racing by mating with Eight Carat to produce Our Diamond Lover and then many subsequent Group winners.

Silent Witness winning his 17th straight race was special.

So many great sprinters over the years, a bit hard to remember them all let alone memorable performances!

Manikato's win in the Rothman's 100000 was one that sticks out. As was Takeover Target's win when he broke the track record at the same track over 1200m with 59.5 kg.

Many of Schillachi's wins, Exceed And Excel breaking the 1400m track record at Caulfield as an early 3yo carrying the #5 saddlecloth, Choisir winning the double in England, Snitzel in the Oakleigh Plate, Placid Ark's triple crown wins were all breathtaking.

Without being specific, there were some great sprint wins by Vo Rogue and Rough Habit.

The 3 best sprinters I've seen are ToT, Goldie and Miss A.

I would put Miss A at the bottom of the little list.

It should never be forgotten that Ollie was half a kilo heavy in the Newmarket.

That track record should belong to Gold Edition.

Post war, Todman and Vain have to be right up there.
Placid Ark was special 'cause I have to support another West Ausiie.
Actually, he doesn't need my support.  His record speaks for itself.
Silent Witness has been mentioned.  I wonder what his record would
look like had he not gone to Japan and got sick.  And his times were
all slick.
All in all, I think the best performance was Todman's demolition of Tulloch.
Oops.  Just remembered Luskin Star too.

Gold Editions Coolmore win on Derby Day
Gold Editions 9 length demolition job on Oaks Day
Miss A v Goldie in the Newmarket at Caulfield.

Another good one was Hareeba. Loose on the lead he was brilliant. Best win was that G1 Australia Stakes at Flemington winning by panels. (Just noticed SteveM already mentioned it  thumbsup)

To true, remember Simon Marshall saying, that it felt just like Bungee jumping"
riding 550kg of Hareeba that day, the chunky bugger.
