Agree with Tevez, not sure if he'll win but I think Kerdem will run top 3. $3 the place would be a nice bet, not sure i'll get that though.

Moment In Time the hardest to beat, bred to handle the wet. Only be slow at worst you'd think though. Has ability to settle handy, big plus as it will be fairly slow run again unless someone takes the initiative.

If the race is at least run at a fair to even pace,Capecover should win only 3.5 over limit and Arnold back on is a positive.

Cup switch on cards

Monday, 29 March 2010

THE PUSH to return the Adelaide Cup to its traditional May date is gathering momentum, with South Australian Jockey Club chairman David Peacock admitting his board is keen to explore the idea.

Peacock denied suggestions the board had already voted to lobby Thoroughbred Racing SA and the State Government to shift the state's biggest race day back to May.

But he conceded the SAJC would soon seek to canvass key stakeholders on the potential for a switch from the current date in March.

"We are just so surrounded in March by other events and festivals that I think we get a little bit lost in the mix," Peacock said.

"The board hasn't gone as far as to make a decision on it yet but we will be canvassing the opinions of key stakeholders like trainers, jockeys, owners, TRSA and the Government.

"Of course, we don't want to get the Government off-side with regards to moving the Adelaide Cup public holiday."

Critics of the switch to March - which came into effect in 2005 - say the move has placed the Cup in "no man's land" in terms of national programming and robbed it of depth.

The race also now clashes with the New Zealand carnival. The 2009 Cup winner Zavite headed to the $780,000 Auckland Cup rather than chasing back-to-back wins in Adelaide.

While the SAJC is yet to officially broach the subject, it is understood the State Government would require not only a compelling case to move the Cup and the associated public holiday but also a commitment by the club to stick with May.
