[ ERROR: SPECIFIED ATTACHMENT MISSING ]

Just a couple of months to the multi-million dollar Queensland Winter Racing Carnival.

The recognised opening day for SEQld is at Doomben on May 1 with the running of the Victory Stakes.

The Carnival continues through Eagle Farm, Gold Coast, Ipswich, Sunshine Coast, ending in the Queensland Cup on July 10.

While the locals will end up with a portion of the spoils, they're hard-pressed to repel the interstate and Kiwi raiders attracted by nice people, nice weather, and good tracks.

Already trainers are announcing plans to come to Brisbane.

Looks like we're in for another super-dooper WRC.

I see the Daily Telegraph had a cheap shot that the locals only managed one winner last week-end.

I personally thought that was a bit harsh given that there was no local runner in the cup and only 2 local runners of 16 in the roses.

With those type of odds 1 winner probably wasn't too bad

Maybe QTIS isn't the answer for quality bloodstock

Credit where credit is due.

I got that cheap shot in earlier than they did.

It is all relative though.
For those that praise the quality of the Qld thoroughbred surely they should have more runners and winners.
Clearly QTIS is a joke in regards to raising the quality. In fact it is detrimental  IMO

Bart Sinclair reports in today's C-M that Melbourne 3YOs FIELDMASTER and CABEZA will be running in the Qld Derby provided flights can be arranged.

Luke Nolen will ride ARVAN in the Derby.

Peter Moody reports that TEE AMAR pulled up lame and is off for a spell.

Yes, they made it into the best WRC in living memory.

Racecourse attendances have been best for years.

And the party isn't over yet.

Be interesting to see how many of the people handed the free bottle of drink on the way out of the main gates can remember what the brand or product was..... their were some inebriated party people stumbling around grabbing the freebie.

I was amazed over that--not the gesture--that was a good idea--but---at 8 pm that night--the thousands of empty plastics bottles in the main street    lol   lol

Tried to get in he Hamilton Pub at 7.00 pm----forget about it---had to be 4000 plus there ---the security guys said---you want a drink---

I'm wiser next year.

chuggers

You sure that they weren't working off the head-shot of you that was circulated following the CP? lol

Maybe the Brisbane Racing Sports and Social Club would have been a better option, but I gather it was crowded too. Undecided

John Wheeler heads home tomorrow after a rather lean visit.  He's played plenty of golf, though.
