I dunno if there's already a thread for such stuff.

If so, please merge this one with it.

This is what I did,

Bought a UHF convertor, and plugged the AV plugs into it, and converted it to a UHF channel, and ran coax to the other TV"s.

This way it runs to all TV's in the house, 5

Another option is an AV sender, sends the picture and sound wirelessly

MagiC, that's what DD has done except the input is via a scart connector, UHF out, it should work.

Ahh, OK smiley

I have two UHF convertors, plus a UHF out from my Austar box, pushing 2 movie channels from my PC, and SKY racing, to all TV's in the house.

Only problem I have, is I only have the one Pay tv service, so no matter how many TV's it is running to in the house, if the children want to watch Cartoon Network, then it is still an argument  shy

I have a Dreambox for the paytv and that allows me to stream the pics via lan to my PC. It also allows me to change channels on the PC (or anything else that the ordinary remote does), so 99% of all my racing viewing is on the PC's monitor. Now, if the wife suddenly decides to change channels and watch a movie and I've got a bet coming up, I just change it back from the PC and send her a polite message not to change it until I've finished watching. Yes, that's another nice little add-on with the Dreambox, I can send messages from my PC which will pop up on the main LCDTV in the family room and she has to press OK to get rid of it, so she has to agree.

Guys, appreciate your continued comments and advice. Thumb Up

I've no doubt it can be set up correctly.  The Fox installer was recovering from the 'flu, his first job was this one, it wasn't a simple install, and he was less than enthusiastic about taking his responsibilities any further.  (And no complaint about that.)

As I said, the last thing I wanna do is stuff up what's currently going fine, or I might miss this afternoon's Cushion meeting. lol

You seem to have the whole business mastered.  I'll wait till my "man" comes on Wed, and might seek further advice then.

On another matter, I have a TV card on my comp, can tune in all the local channels, but can't get Fox tuned in.

The Sky Media page is fine for now, but we know that'll be a pay service before too long.

I wish they'd let me die in peace. Sad

You have to manually tune your TV into the right UHF channel DD, a blank one, not being taken up by a TV station.

Has the UHF box got a litle adjustment to select what UHF channel to use ?

Quite possibly, there could already be a another TV Station, taking up that spot.

What I found easiest to do, was manually tune the TV to a low UHF channel (get best results) think mine may be 28 or 32 or something around there, once you have found a blank channel, you then adjust the little adjustment knob on the UHF convertor with a little screwdriver untill you get a picture on that channel, then use the manual fine tune of TV to make minor adjustments

When adjusting, swicth the test channel on to on, on the covertor box to make it easier to find

Hope this helps

MagiC

Ya can adjust the channel.

What you've said might be helpful for someone who's up on such stuff.  I've got plenty other things to annoy me this arve, so will leave it to the TV man. lol

Will get back later.

Thanks, just the same. beer

Have just had a 90 min session with my TV man.  His hair went somewhat more grey in the time he was here.

He'd done the initial cabling, but needed some time to refresh his memory.  We couldn't get the Fox into the other rooms.  While getting things set up he'd intentionally altered the TV setting from PAL to YGB or whatever it is. smiley

He installed his RF converter ($147).  Still couldn't get Fox to come out of it.  So he deduced it could be faulty so consented to try my cheapy ($40).  Still no Fox.  Then he figured it was the change in setting from PAL.  So he switched that back, and all is fine.

Upshot is, the Dick Smith unit is in place, and it saved me $107. biggrin

Thanks again for your interest and advice.

I wanna buy a new phone for a fixed line.   My trusty Panasonics have lasted almost 20 years but are showing signs of illness.

A good quality remote unit with long battery life would be a big attraction. smiley

Any advice based on recent experiences would be appreciated.

I would go Panasonic again DD, I see Dicksmith had some specials in their recent catalogue.

I just bought a new set, pretty hard to go past Panasonic for quality, and features  Thumb Up
