I have a Q....

Some years back, it was possible to obtain the registered owner of a car by paying a fee to the "Transport Department" and quoting the rego number.  (For example if a car parked across a driveway.)

Looking at the Qld website, I can't see any such offerings.

I suspect privacy issues have taken over this service.

Anyone have any informed view on this?

Asking for an "informed" view is a sure discussion stopper, so I'll ignore it.

I don't think even the coppers are allowed access to that information without good reason.

I can think of very good reasons why this information is restricted.

You were excluded in the "informed" reference, Geoff.

Cops get the info at the push of a button, for all sorts of trivial reasons.
