Listening to sports radio in Sydney this week and they were discussing whether Lonhro will grow into the greatest Australian horse ever, when you combine race career and post racing career.

It is an interesting question. They were not suggesting he is yet. And I concede that anything could happen but this is an industry based on speculation.

Todman jumped straight into my mind.

I am really looking forward to smarter members than me throwing up some names on who we would consider the greatest Australian horse ever combining their racing and stud careers.

Pierro has been outstanding and now we have Session ALMOST bringing Peter Snowden to tears, its fair to say Lonhro is proving a pretty good stallion.

US dreams for super sire Lonhro

NOT long after a friendly security guard lets you in at the front gate of Darley's Jonabell Farm in the heart of Kentucky's bluegrass state, a striking black stallion can be seen roaming in the first paddock to the right of the main entrance.

Although this champion racehorse-turned-champion sire is from the western suburbs of Sydney, he doesn't look out of place standing at the end of a perfectly tarred road lined with manicured trees that stretch to a water feature at the base of a striking administration building.

His name is Lonhro and he is well known to Australian punters after winning Group 1 races from 1400m to 2000m.

Now he is sharing a home with some of the hottest stallions in the world, big money-makers such as Bernadini, Street Cry and Medaglia D'oro, as he tries to make a name for himself in the US.It is a safe haven that could be easily described as horse heaven.
