Just trying to collate the performances thus far in what is shaping up as a very good year.

Group 1 Winners

Golden Rose - Denman
Flight Stakes - More Joyous
Spring Champion - Monaco Consul
Caulfield Guineas - Starspangledbanner
Thousand Guineas - Irish Lights
Victoria Derby - Monaco Consul
Victoria Oaks - Faint Perfume
Ascot Vale - Headway
Australian Guineas - Rock Classic
SAJC Australasian Oaks - Small Minds
Randwick Guineas - Shoot Out
Rosehill Guineas - Zabrasive
Vinery Stakes - Faint Perfume
AJC Australian Derby - Shoot Out
Queensland Oaks - Miss Keepsake
Queensland Derby - Dariana
WA Derby - Chartreux

Other races:

Cox Plate - So You Think
Australia Stks - Black Caviar
Oakleigh Plate - Starspangledbanner
Newmarket - Wanted (SSB 3rd)
Robert Sangster Stks - Rostova
TJ Smith - Melito (placed All Aged, BTC Cup, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke, won Furious G2)
Winter Stks - Melito
Golden Jubilee Stks - Starspangledbanner
July Cup - Starspangledbanner

Some other good horses with significant placings

Manhattan Rain (Cox Plate, Caulfield Guineas, 3rd Slipper) - now retired
Extra Zero (Vic Derby, winner G2 Autumn Classic)
Viking Legend (Spring Champion, Vic Derby, Randwick Guineas) - retired
Carrara (Caulfield Guineas)
King Pulse (Ascot Vale, 4th Newmarket)
Shellscrape (Ascot Vale, Lightning, Galaxy, Roman Consul G2 winner)
Trusting (Golden Rose, won G2 Warwick Stks)
Phelan Ready (Manikato Stks, Golden Slipper & MM winner)
Captain Sonador (Randwick Guineas)
Linton (Aust Guineas, Alistair Clark G2 winner)
Set For Fame (Aust Guineas)
Hurtle Myrtle (Flight)
Descarado (AJC Derby)

Any others? Could the Rosehill Guineas, AJC Australian Derby and Qld Derby winners not even be on this list?

Might be some more open G1 wins in races like the Doncaster, All-Aged, TJ Smith, Doomben 10,000 and Stradbroke.

Will be some sort of job deciding the 3yo of the year.

well here out of that lot i would put into the city class/won't amount to a great deal bracket....

Denman
Monaco Consol...(moroneys problems have been well documented lol).
Irish Lights
Headway

the rest will win their share of races but no superstars amongst them imo.

as for the REALLY good ones....

Shoot Out
More Joyous...jury still out imo!
Starspangledbanner
Rock Classic...Bart factor.
Faint Perfume...same as above and impressed me greatly first up last start.
Black Caviar...if the injury doesn't finish it's career.

special mention for Linton who looks like another Largo Lad...might win a good cup race one day.

Tevez reports the retirement of Viking Legend. Is a great shame, as he looked to have come back as good as ever in the Guineas - could have won it if the breaks went the right way.

Would be just about the first son of Elvis to stand at stud?

12 starts 9 wins and $1.2 mill ...... I know you don't like the horse Shaun but that is just a silly statement rolleyes

Yet in the same breathe you rap a horse that 'maybe' the next Largo Lad ..... obviously the height of excellence wacko

It's fine to play favourites (we all have our favs) but the 2 statements together show a distinct lack of objective thought
