This would have to rank as my most frustrating weekend ever

Firstly yesterday, had Elmore on top but decided to bet around it with quinella's. Elmore wins at good odds and I miss the quinella...

Then last 3 bets for the day were :

Sirmione - 2nd @ $9, beaten a nose after hitting the front
Solchow - 2nd @ $8, beaten a short half head gettiing grabbed on the line.
Georgia's Boy - 2nd @ $6, beaten a short half head after lookiing the winner until the very last minute

Had my one and only bet today on Lay Back Lad (Benalla r5), each way @ $14. Again looked the winner with 50m to go, only to get swamped on the line to not only get beaten but MISS THE PLACE as well by a nose. WTF.  mad

I know hearing losing tales is usually mind numbingly boring but to be this genuinely cursed is enough to almost make me quit.

Were they your only bets?

If so, good on you for not going on tilt and betting on other races.

Secondly, your horses are at good odds and what happened WILL happen again.

I think you should be more worried if they all finished down the track.

Just keep doing what you're doing. It will come good.   Thumb Up

The only thing that bothers me is the Elmore quinellas. Did you think there was extra value in the horses you coupled with Elmore? If not, you made a mistake. You need value in both selections to bet quinellas, if not you're better off sticking to a win bet or have a save for the place.

Took 2 quaddies yesterday--in Melbourne had Linton followed with the last 3 winners while in Perth had 3 winners and a second beaten a whisker  mad

I think Wenona is on the money here. All your selections were around the money which says that your analysis and process is good, you just need some luck (and don't we all).

Everyone has runs where they question what they do and the bests they make (including me over the last few weeks!!!), but if you record your bets and therefore know that you are going OK and your process is is good then believe in yourself - the results will come.

Thanks Wenona.
With the Elmore bet, whilst I had it on top I didn't have it  clearly on top and thought there were 4 stand outs in the race. So I boxed them up in a quinella. Not the wisest move in hindsight.

I did quit after the last race. Am fairly disciplined although don't worry - the thought did cross my mind to try and blast out.

Just one other thing - I thought Response was a good thing in the 3rd with Marveen and Delta Gee the clear 2nd and 3rd picks. I backed Response straight out @ $2.80 and backed Delta Gee the place. Of course Marveen gets scratched at the barrier crippling my win dividend and affecting the place dividend on Delta Gee.

And to make matters worse Delta Gee runs second with the quinella paying $7.60 which of course I would have taken if I had known Marveen was going to be scratched......

Fasnet,

Mark is not "after the race" with me--he is good with Melb tips and I get them the night before.

You see---if you didn't stir him so much--all forumites would profit--I guess he is pissed off with comments similar to yours--so to yours and others are a  non-benefit.

Just my thoughts.
