This would have to rank as my most frustrating weekend ever Firstly yesterday, had Elmore on top but decided to bet around it with quinella's. Elmore wins at good odds and I miss the quinella... Then last 3 bets for the day were : Sirmione - 2nd @ $9, beaten a nose after hitting the front Solchow - 2nd @ $8, beaten a short half head gettiing grabbed on the line. Georgia's Boy - 2nd @ $6, beaten a short half head after lookiing the winner until the very last minute Had my one and only bet today on Lay Back Lad (Benalla r5), each way @ $14. Again looked the winner with 50m to go, only to get swamped on the line to not only get beaten but MISS THE PLACE as well by a nose. WTF. I know hearing losing tales is usually mind numbingly boring but to be this genuinely cursed is enough to almost make me quit.

Don't take up place betting, Mark. A string of 4ths will send you to Princes Bridge.

Re Book Scientific Racegoing: Just noticed that one of the only Libraries that have a copy of the Book Scientific Racegoing is The Australian National Library. Now they have not digitised it as yet and wonder if they ever will do that. It will be a pity if this never becomes more easily accessible, although it was edited into the Australian edition when Furlongs, Pounds and Stones were the measures then used. Nevertheless the Patterns of Predictability are still relevant and easily converted. Our procedures are 'scientific' in the sense that we make every effort to uncover each relevant fact about the race in question, and we use all of this pertinent information to arrive at rational conclusions. Class, condition, pace, speed, consistency, track work, and so forth - the various factors of racing expressed as far as possible in mathematical terms, must be considered and weighed. The possibilities are balanced against the probabilities and our money, naturally, rides on the horse favoured by the probabilities. ( From S. R. book courtesy of Jacaranda Press. ) I have attempted to write programs for most of their findings, but tempered by requiring the absolute minimum of manual keying in of any missing data, from the available TAB download sources, which are now pretty good.

Clever me thought Sea Galleon was a special when the early TAB markets came out on Thursday. I jumped in and took the $3-20. A coupleof scratchings later and I get reduced to $2-84 Fair enough I guess but the fixed odds starting price was $3-10 from the same mobb Theives Also had my Lonhreign/Sea Galleon double reduced from $32 down to $25

yes it's getting VERY tricky stepping into fixed odds with the huge scr going on....with betfair betting such low %...i would be interested in what Sea Galleon got to there...unless its a clear over i'm tempted to wait for the day ....i find the Shop's have toughened up ...on top of banning bet types after having ONE collect !! got an exacta and IAS don't let me have any exotic....if someone wins then turnover will continue thru the account...i don't like this short sighted approach particularly when TVN spruik this joint as a major player

Deductions are a real rough. A far while back I backed white horse inn at the prov and was around $10 fixed. One horse sracthed , the inn wins and it pays $4 somethng.
