Did anyone just see that race at Launceston with this guy in it ....

Fark that was impressive.  Not sure of the quality he beat but to pick himself up the way he did after getting dragged down was awesome.  Still won by 15 !

The dog in its 5 starts has gone quicker than the likes of Gardem Prince went at the tassie tracks. Will be top notch when it arrives in Vic.

Most impressive thing is that it never gave up.  Chased hard all the way.  I can't remember the last decent dog from Tassie, but I'd be backing Damek if it comes over here.

a bit harsh considering Chinatown Lad and Fallen Zorro were close to the best stayers in the country at their best just a couple of years ago.  biggrin

True, my memory isn't as good as it was.  Also I don't follow the dogs that often these days.  There was another sprinter that came over for a series in late December last year, censored ing name escapes me too.

Tasmania has indeed produced several greyhounds in the past that have made their mark in the Greyhound Racing industry. We should mention litter siblings Fallen Zorro and Chinatown Lad. Everyone in the industry could very well recall what these two has greatly accomplished.

Naturally, the magic of all of the greyhounds that Tasmania has produced, that have made their mark in the Greyhound Racing industry, is still there. But Tasmania most likely wants to produce more for everyone to experience more of this magic, perhaps on a different level.

The greyhound named Damek now comes into the scene. For many, he is most likely the next greyhound of Tasmania to make mark in the Greyhound Racing industry. He is a future superstar.

The Eileen Thomas-trained Damek is still unbeatable after having four starts. And his recent victory was none other than at Devonport where he run through home and ended up getting a 12-length advantage over his rivals in the juvenile race of over 452 meters.

Thomas’ greyhound recorded a time of 25.23, just actually behind of one-tenth to that of the great Lilli Pilli that recorded 25.13.

“I think Damek is one of the most exciting greyhounds in years and while it is great to have him in the kennel it is also very scary,” Thomas said. “I worry about all of my dogs when they race, hoping they all get around safely, but it is particularly worrying with Damek because he is such an exciting prospect.”

Thomas seems really interested of Damek. Well, she has all the good reasons to be.

“I have had some good dogs over the years and I suppose Collica was the best until Damek came along,” Thomas said. “The thing that makes Damek so exciting is the times he’s producing. To go within a couple of lengths of Lilli Pilli Lad’s record at Devonport at his first start on the track was mind blowing.”

How far will Damek go? This is naturally still for us to find out. For now, it is Thomas who got the idea how far.

Gotta love those 1 turn tracks where dogs get that chance to build up records like that.  The biggest disgrace in Greyhound racing in my time was the closure of HP.  NSW racing has never really recovered.
