Weichong Marwing will take over from Darren Beadman when Dao Dao returns to Hong Kong racing in Sunday's Group One Champions Mile.
Beadman was on board when the five-year-old won the Listed Royal Parma at Rosehill on April 4 but is committed to John Moore's Hong Kong Derby winner, Collection, this weekend.
Dao Dao's co-trainer Michael Hawkes confirmed the booking of South African expat Marwing on Monday.
"We're happy to have him on board," Hawkes said.
"He has the experience here in Hong Kong and he'll suit the horse."
After impressing in Sydney, Dao Dao won four of eight starts in a Hong Kong stint that finished with an eighth behind Good Ba Ba in last year's Champions Mile, a race in which he struck severe interference.
"The horse has done well. It's great to be here with a horse you know is genuinely competitive. We're here to work, not for a holiday," Hawkes said.
Dao Dao and fellow Australian contender Niconero had leisurely workouts on the Sha Tin all weather surface on Monday.
Lizzie Jelfs, looking after Niconero for David Hayes, reported she had a "happy horse" on her hands after riding him.
Niconero won the 1600m Futurity Stakes and 2000m Australian Cup before finishing fourth in last month's Dubai Duty Free.
The Champions Mile and Queen Elizabeth II Cup over 2000m are the features on Sunday's Hong Kong card.
