Shinn does it again.....,

Once again Purton hops off after 2 losing rides on a horse and Shinn gets the ride and wins.....

Fours.
ps some people are slow learners...

To be fair that's hardly a good example fours.

It was a low grade, C4 mile race with the field comprising of maidens or horses who had won 1 / 2 or 3 from 10 / 20 or 30 starts, hardly consistent animals. I'd marked 4 in the race and still couldn't narrow it down so gave it a wide berth.

The winner is talented but is known to be quirky, even yesterday he shied at something around the 150m mark. His gear changes over the last 4 starts have been -
4 back - Crossed Nose Band
3 back - Crossed Nose Band + Sheepskin Cheek Pieces
2 back - Crossed Nose Band + Shadow Roll (cheek pieces off)
yesterday - Crossed Nose Band (Shadow roll off)

So they have been trying everything.

Fields like that are more hit & hope than anything else imho.

Gintara,

I agree with you for that lone example.

However I have noticed this sort of thing happening often ( with Moriera too ).

The trouble for both JM & ZP is they can bring a horses through but eventually they can or will clash and they have choose between mounts. Even worse for Purton as he doesn't ride as light as some of the others so when a horse jumps in grade it can be weighted right at the bottom and he has to forgo the ride.

Alternatively you will see him jump on horses dropping in grade who have poor form, they are high in the weights but many times if you trawl back you'll find they were competitive when last in that grade / weight - they inevitably run well.

Yet Pete will tell us we're mugs for betting in HK.

Gintara,

There are two reasons the best bookmakers ( Mark Read ) and best punters end up betting hong Kong sooner or later. BIG POOLS and BIG FIELDS if you call 12 horse fields big.   Both enhance profit making opportunites for those that can actually do the form.....

IQ required is way way way beyond Peter Mair how ever to even acknowledge that however.

Neil Callan's HK career has ended after his licence was suspended for the rest of the season.

This is after he was disrespectful during a steward's inquiry on February 3.

He will be unable to ride anywhere until the end of the HK season on July 14th and will not be relicensed in HK for 21-22

Been a busy week but a few black book runners going around

R5 - 3 Divine Era
R6 - 4 My Ecstatic
R7 - 3 Dandy Years (save #1)
R8 - no bet but worth watching 2 Courier Wonder
R9 - sticking with 5 Beluga stepping to the 1800m first time save #10 & #11
R10 - going 3 Beauty Fit over the unbeaten 5 Fantastic Treasure. Extras for exotics 10 True Legend will be leading & 11 Perfect Pair should storm home at decent odds.
R11 - I do like the #6 Silver Express but can't take the $2 so I've saved on it and taken the $13 #3 Super Wealthy for a nice result, saved on #1 & #8 as well.

wily ole dog,

The days off before the prior preps flop run and spell suggest to me thats a fair price.

If there are problems with the legs there may be inflammation after the run and another flop to come next start..... This is where so called inside knowledge is an advantage.

R8 - no bet but worth watching 2 Courier Wonder

Didn't realise but it's a full relation to Ice Bath who went so close in the Doncaster.

A few that interest me tonight.

Race 3 - #1 Spontaneous was able to cross easily from the wide draw last time out and dominate from the front, if ZP can repeat the start he should again be able to control from the front.

Race 6 - #4 Stock Legend is the best of the night imho. Slow away last time out and had to go back, turned in 2nd last before racing in restricted room around the 100m mark to go down by 1.5L. Drawn better and JM on, he'll hopfully possie up closer and prove too strong. Smaller saver on the #10 Jazz Stead who's racing well.

Race 7 - #11 Daily Beauty, missed a gap at the 200 last time out which would have seen him in the placings, jock then sat up coasting home. Can't believe the $16 being bet, seems extraordinary in an open race with the leading jock on.

Race 8 - I'm not normally a fan of these mid grade 1650m races as they have all seemingly found their level and take turns winning imho. That said ZP is riding the #11 Fast Pace at 119 pounds or 54kgs, it's rare he goes to that weight so it's worth a small investment around the current $6

Race 3 - #1 Spontaneous was able to cross easily from the wide draw last time out and dominate from the front, if ZP can repeat the start he should again be able to control from the front. Good when they go to script  :clap2: Sp'd $3.6 although $4.8 bet

Nicely positioned in the run from JM before putting it away in the straight SP $2.5

Race 7 - #11 Daily Beauty, missed a gap at the 200 last time out which would have seen him in the placings, jock then sat up coasting home. Can't believe the $16 being bet, seems extraordinary in an open race with the leading jock on. 1/2 a stride slow so off the wide was compelled to go back, turned in lasted before running home out wide to mid field, in an impossible spot to win - follow

Race 8 - I'm not normally a fan of these mid grade 1650m races as they have all seemingly found their level and take turns winning imho. That said ZP is riding the #11 Fast Pace at 119 pounds or 54kgs, it's rare he goes to that weight so it's worth a small investment around the current $6 Led, looked the winner before being bloused late into 3rd

All in all an ok night.
