Contrail could be the next big thing. He has Carbine in his pedigree.  For a couple of strides I thought Damian Lane (Salios, 2nd) was in with a chance until Contrail accelerated away.

Gran Alegria - in the straight the  commentator says ''running on but it is too far to catch up''...... horse must not have heard him - won by something like 2 lengths

No criticism of SW's call as I thought exactly the same at the time.

Pretty impressive the winner.

She did it and will now take on older and male opposition in the Japan Cup.

Possibly the best 3yr old stayer in the world attempts the Triple Crown Sunday in the Kikuka sho. 18 colts to run with Contrail currently 1.1 odds.

Go make sure you get a heart check-up if you backed Contrails at $1.10.

Didn't win like you expect a horse that price should

Funny watching all the jockeys bar one stay away from the rails first time around.

Lemaire told me Contrail has him covered. Further he would have kept going.

If Almond Eye wins this afternoon she moves to no 12 in career earnings measured in USD taking Enable's place. There are currently 7 Japanese horses in the top 12.  In the top 20 only Almond Eye (currently no 17), Beauty Generation  (currently no 13) and Maximum Security are still racing.  Maximum Security gets a chance to move up from no 20 if he does well in the Breeders Cup next weekend.
