Now that's a horserace!

Bowman rode Chevalier Grand perfectly and looked home, but Iwata was not to be denied.

A week ago I had him on top. But I have Rainbow Line, Cheval Grand, Clincher, Satono Chronicle and Chestnut Coat.

Trifecta in order  :clap2:

Reports indicate winner may be in trouble.

Jock dismounted immediately after the line.

Tenno Sho winner from few weeks ago Rainbow Line bows out a G1 winner. He suffered tendon and ligament damage on the winning post it seemed. Similar injury to good horse Duramente from a few years ago.

Another star for Deep Impact, as Wagnerian wins the Japanese Derby.

He's got the odds on fav, Saxon Warrior, in the English Derby this coming Saturday.

Now that'd be some Derby double.

Plus, just for good measure, he's also got Study of Man, the second fav in the French Derby on Sunday.

And kudos to our primary Japanese racing correspondent for tipping the better than 20/1 winner of the last today. 👍

Is anyone aware of any smart form analysts for Japanese racing?

Find the best way to learn about a new racing area is to follow some smart punters and understand why they've selected certain horses.

Thanks

Yasuda Kinen tomorrow. Suave Richard the fav, but by no means over the line.

Sam Clipperton's got a ride, but he's unlikely to figure at the pointy end.

Big race today, the Takarazuka Kinen, with a number of big names turning up.

Kiseki, Satono Diamond, Satono Crown, Vivlos and others.

J H Bowman rides the HK horse, Werther.

Should be a great race.

Kiseki and Satono Diamond for me.

Specialweek    Do you know what the track condition was yesterday at Hanshin?

Tuned in to watch Werther and our Tab had it down as a good surface.

The track was described as muddy from the course and later our Tab had it down as Awt or all weather which is obviously wrong.

Turf track was good. Turf track ratings in Japan are; Firm, good, yielding, soft.
Dirt track muddy.  Dirt track ratings are; Fast or standard, good, muddy, sloppy.

Some of the races early on the card are Allowance races and abbreviations of allowance by some overseas operators incl Australia have some reading it as Alw.  all weather.

There are no all weather tracks in Japan.
