Joe Janiak has decided that he would not travel to Wellington for the Telegraph Handicap with Takeover Target, his next mission will be Singapore and Royal Ascot as the veteran nine-year-old heads to the close of his career.

There is a persistent rumour in NZ that Lucky Secret will make the trip as a late entry in the Telegraph.

I see (Lord) Turffontein has been given the usual hospitality we Kiwis reserve for Australian visitors and will start from gate 19.

Not as bad as it might look. While not a straight six, but a dog leg, a wide draw over 1200 at Trentham isn't that much of a problem. You can sit three or even four wide and not cover much extra ground.

The 3-y-o Fully Fledged looks perfectly drawn at 4. He seems to have got over his waywardness, which once saw him smash into the running rail at Trentham when a mile in front as a 2-y-o.

Some of the reserves look a little unlucky not to get a run Peterf ?

Apparently it's a bad marble on the track but I see no reason why Atapi wont be in the finish 8-)

Yeah, the emergencies have it tough, the top three at least wouldn't be lost in this field, but someone had to miss out. It's the strongest field of sprinters I have seen in a long time.

Atapi has drawn two which won't suit him as he will get off the pace a bit. Somehow I doubt he can run 1.7-1.8 over 1200 and the winner will need to. This week's weather in Wellington has been brilliant (hard to believe I know) and without rain the track is going to be lightning fast. It will no doubt be watered a bit so it is not like concrete, but it will still be quick.

Mufhasa wins, and with ease.

What a beautiful looking animal he is too.

Watch the replay, danewin, you'll see a better run than the winner

The 2nd horse changed direction 3 times in the straight before getting clear.

Very stiff not to win
