Big Anthony Cummings and Nathan Tinkler could have a lash 2 if they were keen.

All,

This should be on the 'how do we get people back to the races thread'...

In between races hold various contests for feuds within the racing industry to be sorted out.

Avdulla booked for Secretariat Stakes ride

Brenton Avdulla has been booked to ride Italian Derby winner Goldstream in a Grade One race in America, pending the approval of his visa application.

The top Sydney jockey said he was approached by owners Australian Bloodstock a week ago and sounded out for the mount in the Secretariat Stakes at Arlington on August 15.

"They bought the import after his Italian Derby win and he looks pretty smart," Avdulla said.

"They've confirmed that they want me on him and as long as it (Avdulla's visa application) all comes through US Customs and it's all sweet then I'm right to go."

Aidan O'Brien won the Secretariat Stakes with Adelaide last year before bringing the horse to Australia where he won the Cox Plate.

Australian Bloodstock have similar aspirations for Goldstream, who is unbeaten in five starts.

Along with a change of ownership, the horse has also changed stables and is now under the care of Andreas Wohler who won last year's Melbourne Cup with Protectionist.

Avdulla will ride in Sydney this Saturday when his mounts include the Anthony Cummings-trained Aomen in the Group Two Missile Stakes at Randwick.

At the risk of overstating it ( SteveM ) this is massive for Avdulla.

US raccing, even on turf is a lot different to Aussie racing and the owners are showing massive trust in Avdulla.

The good thing is it might encourage SKY channel to show these races rather than the garbage they usually show from America in the mornings.

Goldstream with Brenton aboard was unplaced (4th) in this morning's Secretariat Stks at Arlington.

Race was won by Aiden O'Brien's horse Highland Reel.

He is having a day out. Might be facing a suspension from earlier ride today.

3 winners thus far. He's on the favourite in the 7th and the prepost 2nd fave in the last.

He really is maturing into being one of the best jockeys in the land.

Geez he outrode McDonald in that 2nd race at Hawkesbury. He just went up at a critical time before the turn and momentarily boxed in McDonald on Duca Valintinois - just enough to check his momentum and has probably been the difference in the end.

Great tactical riding   emthup

That ride on the Prov Champion Danish Twist was one of his best.

They are winning out wide at Hawkesbury today and he was stuck behind the leader close to the rails but the way he gently eased out to be 3 from the outside fence at the finish was real genius.   emthup

Not gently enough apparently. Gave a couple of others a haircut and copped a suspension.

Figtree B Avdulla, rider of Danish Twist, pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding in
that near the 150m, he permitted his mount to shift out whilst riding along when not clear
of Figtree, resulting in Figtree losing its rightful running and having to be steadied by its
rider. B Avdulla's licence to ride in races was suspended for a period to commence on
Sunday, 8 May 2016 and to expire on Sunday, 15 May 2016, on which day he may ride.

Good jockeys will cop a few suspensions with their will to win. Remember Mal Johnstone?

I think Avdulla is riding in peak career form. He is 16 and a half wins ahead of James McDonald in the State title

(surprised to see Sammy Clenton so high up on that list)

Avdulla queried over his efforts on King Hewitt yesty at Canterbury........it does look odd to the casual observer.
