I tend to look at it in reverse.

The depth and talent with these 7 days a week jocks is so good I donít even factor it into my bets. Only exception is possibly an apprentice

With that in mind I will say that Lane, Williams, Oliver, in Victoria have slaughtered a lot more of mine than any of the so called weaker brigade.
Doesnít stop me from backing them but I do with great trepidation

In Qld, I donít back anything that Fradd is on.

NSW, E. Hennessy is a no go as well

D Oliver absolute slaughter job on Alcyone. Most people will just accept it and look for a battler to bag

Jocks don't have that much to do with it IMO.

Wil John is just a very special horse....what a set of lungs.....I be asking the trainer just as the owner just did.....Why isn't he in on the first Tuesday race?

Bit tough on Oliver I reckon Wily.
Alcyone is one big head strong horse who just found himself in an awkward spot.
Can't blame the jock all the time.....money really was on him today.

Geez Nem, Alycone wasnít  in an awkward spot until Oliver went to sleep and let them come from back behind him and block him in.  99.999% of jocks would have eased out when they started coming.

Prebble even laughed about it
It was a horrid from a top class jock

McEvoy might not be good as a few listed in the top 5 but at his best, he is not a bad jockey to back. His consistency at times is not helped by the fact, he does ride a lot for the major stables.

Trying to rate the best jockeys is very subjective ......all  jockeys have ability some moreso than others..... it's  like any occupation ...the key is getting on the right horse in the right race.......no matter how good a rider is they can't come home without the horse.

I like Jim Byrne in QLD very good rider with a distinctive style which  stands out by that I mean you can't miss him ....his technique never varies.
Stephanie Thornton is an excellent female rider.

In Sydney James Mc Donald and Hugh Bowman would get my vote.

Melbourne Craig Williams & Damien Oliver

Perth William Pike

Don't know anything about riders in the other jurisdictions.

Giddy Up

McEvoy seems to be struggling at the moment. I will be interested to see how he goes in the Flemington carnival with some Sydney jocks staying for the Golden Eagle.

McEvoy,

I have never seen such a  Saturday metro slaughter job as he did to Atishu recently...
