Good to see Mr Browne back riding again   emthup

The accounts needed a top up.

A double today, both at double figure odds, from only 3 rides.

Adnocon was never going to win, but DJB got something out of him to get the cash.

Freak!!

Rode some pearlers yesterday - but what was he doing on Mr Clangtastic?

I mean seriously, the horse needs to lead.

You have to let go DD.
Every jockey rides a below par race, that may have been his.
Over the last couple of years you would have spare digits finding his other average rides
He is by far the best jockey in Qld

AH
Do you really think Mr Clangtastic would have finished any closer if he was pushed for the lead?
I don't.
That horse needs a wet track to perform at at his best.

BTW
4 rides for 3 wins again today for Damian.
Punters are getting shorts for some at Caloundra in particular, but he makes a good thing a "good thing"

Agree with you DJH about your observations about DJB.  Damian has been braining them for years up on the Sunny Coast and has finally been noticed by the top stables.  I don't think there is any doubt he is the best in Queensland, by a space.  You'd be struggling to find an alternative.  His numbers tell the story.

I just hope he continues to support the locals that helped him along the way as his star continues to rise.  Having met him briefly he seems a fairly assured kind of individual without a trace of arrogance.   But that was a very brief meeting.

His ride on Bevagna wasn't that bad to my eye, but then again I was on Billie Blue Gum in that race .  Bevagna began okay was outsped and seemed to be steadied around the 700m for some reason which is not immediately evident and lost its position - maybe he could have got stuck into it a bit earlier in the straight but it wasn't a dire ride - maybe a 5/10 which on second thought could be construed as dire by his high standards.

He wasn't seen to advantage on Ready To Rip a couple of times and the jury is out on his Woorim ride - some say it was a bad ride, others say it was brilliant - the horse did win after all.  However, it is always fraught when riding backmarkers like Ready To Rip and Woorims of this world rather than the jump and run types.

I am really starting to agree with DJH on DJB.

Perhaps he should consider himself a carnival jockey and base himself where ever the big races are.

He will surely go where ever Mystical Grey and his trainer decide to go. He is top class.

Must admit I am well in front following DJH advice he is top class.

I just love the way the horse seems to be given every chance.

Unlike several hoops who miss the kick knock someone down etc.

He makes some of the former 'top' jocks in Queensland look pretty ordinary.

Is currently clearly the best jockey in the country. The margin to 2nd is considerable and lengthening.

if i was the best jockey in the country i would also like to be the most successful. like Greg Ryan in country NSW Damien is shining in his patch. Mixing it in Sydney or Melb may be another story.

Have a look at his 2 rides for Snowden over the carnival. Both were perfect and there were plenty of the top interstate jockeys in both races.

Agree with antitab DB keeps raising his level.  He seems to possess an excellent technique in adapting to the rhythm of his mount and race tempo.  Watch how low he gets on the neck to minimise drag.  He is not the most vigorous around but he does not need to be. That is not to say every ride is perfect but he would be my first choice as a rider.  For consistency he is the best since another with the same initials.

I have no doubt the best trainers will be knocking down his door begging him to ride their horses at the big carnivals.

I take it he rides no lighter than 55kgs ?

There have been a few Qld jockeys head south in recent years and go OK.
Munce, Boss, Rodd, Purton, Dittman, York etc.
Browne is at least as dominant as they were before they went South.

He will blow them away down there

Purton

Not sure we can claim him as a Qld'er, although, I am sure we would love to

Zac wasn't a leading jockey in Qld??

When I say Qld jockey, I don't necessarily mean born in Qld.

That list would be too short

The list I gave have all come through Brisbane on the way to bigger and better things and as I said ,Browne is probably at the top of the list ability wise.

He toys with them up here and had no problems against the visitors when they came up.

I have seen and loosely worked with most of the best jockeys around in recent years and I can assure you all that D. Browne is as good as any I have seen.

I agree with Black Swan in that he reminds me of an in form Beadman.
I wonder if Damian goes to church on Sundays before Corbould Park  :chin:
