This kid deserves a thread of his own.

Rides well and seems to have his head screwed on.

He sure did that in race one  (his first UK ride) last nite at LEICESTER.

Headed for the outside rail up the straight 1200m, and guided Cable bay to a late finishing win, around $9+ on betfair, and half that on NSWTAB (as to be expected)

Ohhh Jimmy Mac, when are ya comin' back

The J-Mac has just the one ride at Lingfield tonight, race 6, # 2 ALSAQI, it was 120-1 on betfair when i last checked in a field of 10.  I doubt it will even reach $10 on our TAB's

Think you have the wrong Macca there. He has two winnable rides at Ripon.

Mr. Authorised sir, it is YOU that has the wrong McDonald, the Ripon one is PAT McDonald a UK rider, Jimmy Mack is indeed on the 2 in race 6 at Lingers

well now i'm confused, he's down riding at BOTH meetings on UNITAB

there is a JAMES McDonald and a J McDonald too  :/

and throw in Pat MacD for the trifecta, it's all too hard

in any case, punters seeing J McDonald as the rider will assume it's Jimmy here in Aus, not some ring in no name. The TAB effect is already in place, i'll be treating it as the savage unders that it is.

Vo the Lingfield is a J F McDonald (not sure of his first name).

Authorised is definitely correct. Both James rides are trained by C Hills who he is with for his stay there.

Ok thanks for clearing that up sobig, amazing how confusing punting can get. Some days i've seen 3 Ascot meetings in different countries Perth races at Ascot here in Oz, Ascot Park dogs in NZ, and washed down with Royal Ascot in the UK where M'aam gets driven down the straight every year in a horse drawn chariot

McDonald questioned over 'half-hearted' Randwick ride
 Racenet story

Racing NSW Stewards accused James McDonald of riding ‘half-hearted’ with an inquiry adjourned into the leading hoop's effort aboard Threeood at Randwick on Saturday.

Racing NSW chief steward Marc Van Gestel took McDonald to task over his effort on Joseph Pride’s Threeood in the Heineken 3 Handicap (1200m).

McDonald, who is a clear leader in Sydney's jockeys' premiership, answered questions for upwards of 20 minutes after the race, with stewards taking issue with his effort, particularly over the final 300m.

Threeood was the $2.90 favourite in the sprint, with the Star Witness mare looking for consecutive city victories on the weekend.

The four-year-old never looked likely of adding to that record after racing towards the back of the field for the majority of Saturday’s race.

Threeood beat just one runner home, finishing 3-1/4 lengths off the winner.

Van Gestel questioned McDonald’s lack of vigour and felt the Kiwi-born hoop looked like he was riding ‘half-hearted’ at times in the straight.

McDonald said he felt like Threeood was ‘plodding’ at stages in the run and struggling to keep up but was adamant he was ‘trying his best’ in the saddle.

Van Gestel countered; “It is one thing to be trying your best but were you doing your best?”

Pride was also brought before stewards and quizzed over the tactics McDonald was instructed to use in the race.

Pride said he was ‘surprised she didn’t travel in the run’ and admitted he thought Threeood was in trouble on the turn. He supplied stewards with the audio he sent to the horse's owners on raceday.

Stewards adjourned the matter to consider evidence and will continue the inquiry at a later date.

It came after earlier in the card McDonald had been cleared of any major charges for his ride on Keen Power in a Highway Handicap at Randwick on June 6.

Stewards advised McDonald he had made an error of judgement in the run however his actions were not considered unreasonable.

McDonald came to Randwick on Saturday with an strong book of rides but ended up win-less on the afternoon as Tommy Berry stole the show.

Berry had his best day in the saddle this year with four winners at NSW headquarters, chalking up victories on Partners, Mount Popa, Poetic Charmer and Agassi.

Replay.....didn't work

Try this ...http://racing.racingnsw.com.au/FreeFields/VideoResult.aspx?MeetDate=2020Jun20&VenueCode=MTMwOTE3Ng==&RaceNumber=6&MeetingCategory=Professional&VideoFileType=FullReplay

It was under pressure before the turn and going nowhere he didn't persist over the last 150m or so as the stewards observed but I doubt it could have won but possibly would have finished closer than it did ...did he hook it I don't think so...will he be charged ...who knows. :/
ENDS

Giddy Up
