Looking at Racing and Sports they record todays Gold Coast rides under the Provincial records - so It doesn't count.

Racing and Sports are wrong. It was a metro meeting (as listed on Racing Australia)

I think the R&S stats relate simply to the geographical location of the track, so a provincial Friday at Doomben would be included but the big Gold Coast meetings aren't.

Wenona
They have him at 75 winners for the year in total of which

27   Doomben
8      Gold Coast
17    Ippy
17  Sunshine Coast

Which total 69

Then they show  Qld
Metrop 49
Prov      20

No combination of the venues making the 75 total either 49 or 20.

So my conclusion is that they vary the venues vis a vis Metrop V Provincial not sticking hard and fast to geography

Hope that makes sense :unsu

Yeah, but when you do last 25 rides the Gold Coast rides from yesterday show in provincial.

I'm guessing there's some inconsistency in the way the various searches have been put together.

Racing Australia shows his metro wins as 51 with 69 as total.

I would think that would be the correct figure.

The Brisbane winter carnival will be Jeff Lloyds last
Champion jockey Jeff Lloyd has confirmed the 2018 Brisbane winter carnival will be his last.

Lloyd was a special guest at the carnival launch in Brisbane on Friday morning and confirmed his plans to retire later this year.

He won last season’s Brisbane metropolitan and Queensland jockey titles and is set to do the same again this season.

“This will be my last carnival as it is time to spend more time with my family,” Lloyd said.

“My older boy is at a jockey academy in South Africa and my younger son is also keen to be a jockey.”

“I want to devote time to helping them. They say go out when you are top and hopefully I can do that.”

Lloyd has ridden 94 Group One winners around the world but will chase the one that got away when he visits his son after the Brisbane carnival.

Lloyd plans to ride in the Durban July at Greyville, the premier race in South Africa where he began his career and won multiple premierships after his family migrated from England.

“I think I have run third in it 11 times but never won or even run second,” he said.

Lloyd, 56, suffered a stroke in 2013 and made a remarkable recovery to return to riding.

He has claimed Group One wins in Australia, South Africa, Hong Kong and Singapore.ENDS

Jeff is a marvel riding as well as ever and going out while he's at the top of his game Good Luck & Keep Well   :king:

From Doomben Meeting Saturday 4 August 2018 – Race 9

Jockey J. Lloyd was fined $300 under AR137(b) in that he failed to ride BEL BURGESS out approaching the end of the race, which in the opinion of stewards resulted in his mount being beaten for fifth placing.
BEL BURGESS – Stewards will interview J. Lloyd regarding his riding of the gelding over the final stages.

I wondered why the stewards report that day indicated Jeff was to be questioned now we know it wasn't obvious to me what the issue was.

JOCKEY JEFF LLOYD CONFIRMS RETIREMENT
Friday 31 May, 2019
Mark Oberhardt

Veteran jockey Jeff Lloyd has set a date for his retirement from the saddle.
Champion jockey Jeff Lloyd has confirmed he will retire in the middle of next month.

The 57-year-old has the Brisbane metropolitan premiership safely in his keeping for a fourth time.

Lloyd indicated last year he would retire during this season but had not put a date on the end of his riding career.

"I can confirm I will retire after the Doomben meeting on July 13," Lloyd said.

"I want to be able to spend more time with my boys. My son Jaden will start riding in races in the new season."

Jaden Lloyd has been accepted into Racing Victoria's apprentice program. He is working at Lindsay Park and has already ridden in trials.

Lloyd will attend the overseas wedding of his nephew, Hong Kong-based jockey Chad Schofield, the week after his last day.

He said he could have come back after the wedding for the final day of the season but decided against it.

Lloyd began his career in South Africa about 40 years ago and won nine junior and senior premierships.

He has since had stints in Mauritius, Hong Kong, England and Sydney.

Lloyd faced one of his biggest tests when he moved to Queensland eight years ago.

He suffered a stroke at the Sunshine Coast races in March, 2013, which put him out of action for a year.

Lloyd returned to riding and has now won 600 races in Queensland.

He won his first Brisbane premiership with 79 winners in 2015/16 and the next season smashed Chris Munce's record of 98 with 137 winners.

Lloyd again broke 100 with 108 winners in 2017/18 for title number three.

He has 74 winners this season and is 32 in front of Brad Stewart.

ENDS

An unortodox style but horses respond to it good health and happiness Jeff in your retirement

I'm sure we all wish Jeff safe riding until he quits and a happy retirement.  :clap2:

I doubt I'd want to go to a family wedding and watch everyone else eat and drink so I could ride one more day either.   emthup
