can't say that I met her personally, but she would always say hello to everybody at trackwork or at the races.A lovely girl with a bubbly personality,as can be attested by that cheeky grin in the photo.

I know her well.  She is a good kid and her father is a top bloke.
She has ridden plenty of winners for Jon O'Connor so hopefully she will return to us one day!!!

Kayla Stra has notched up three wins in the US, the latest being at Hollywood Park.

She will return to Australia at the end of this month, spending New Year's Day with her family before flying to Melbourne to visit the seriously injured Scott Leckey.

Kayla is booked to ride one of the father's horses, By Sea, at Strathalbyn in a couple of weeks.

While in the US she starred in a commercial with Shaquille O'Neal and said it was good fun.

Haven't been taking much notice, but how is she going since coming home?

Has she ridden a winner yet?  Will take notice of today's racing.

STRA COMPLETES FINE WEEK WITH RIDING TRIPLE AT GGF

STRA COMPLETES FINE WEEK
WITH RIDING TRIPLE AT GGF
Australian jockey Kayla Stra completed a fine week of riding at Golden Gate Fields by winning three races Sunday.

Stra scored with six of her 13 mounts during the racing week (Wednesday through Sunday) and had a riding double on Thursday in addition to her triple Sunday.  Stra was just 1-for-35 with seven seconds and three thirds going into the week.

Stra recorded her hat trick Sunday by winning the fifth race with Yankee Frankie ($6.60), the seventh with Flying Home ($4.00) and the ninth with Da Heat ($9.80).

The big afternoon moved Stra into a tie for 10th place in the jockey standings with Anisete Leon, who also has seven wins at the fall/winter meeting.

Trainer Armando Lage saddled two winners Sunday.  Lage took the third race with Classielyte ($7.60) and the ninth with Da Heat.

Racing will resume at Golden Gate Fields Wednesday.  Post time is 12:45 p.m.

DEVILS AFLEET EDGES STABLEMATE IN SPRINT FEATURE AT GOLDEN GATE FIELDS
The 5-year-old gelding Devils Afleet edged ahead of stablemate Prairie City Road in the final strides to win the $40,580 sprint feature at Golden Gate Fields Thursday.

Devils Afleet defeated Prairie City Road by a neck as trainer Lloyd Mason saddled the exacta in the six-furlong contest for older horses. Ridden by Kayla Stra, Devils Afleet was timed in 1:09.62 and paid $27.80 after being dismissed at 12-to-1 in the wagering.

Devils Afleet, owned by Edward and Theresa DeNike, was making his first start of the year after going 1-for-7 with four seconds in 2009.  The victory was Devils Afleetís sixth in 21 career starts and the $22,800 payday boosted his earnings to $214,540.

Prairie City Road, who finished three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher Jiggly, was making his first start since Aug. 22 and ran a big race in defeat.
A very consistent and lightly raced 5-year-old horse, Prairie City Road has three wins, four seconds a third in eight career starts.

Paulís Hope, the 6-to-5 favorite ridden by Frank Alvarado, never threatened and checked in last in the field of six.

from her facebook,

Hi to everyone! I thought that because a lot of you follow my career I'd better post something to explain why I will not be racing for the rest of the year! Nothing bad... I have an apprentice in the making! I am Happily pregnant!
I Will keep ya all up to date if I can as I take on this new adventure. Thanks for all the love and support throughout my riding career so far. Don't worry though. It's not over yet!! :)
