O.P. « 2009-Jan-25, 07:14 AM »

Luke grew up on a small sheep and cattle property at Palmerston North in New Zealand but had never ridden a horse until he entered racing at age 16.

His first job was with Bruce Marsh where he rode one winner from 10 rides and he then moved to Australia and joined Terry O'Sullivan in Vic. Limited opportunities saw him walk away from racing and move home to NZ.
Three years later Luke returned to the Gold Coast and took up a position with Mel Eggleston.
Luke has ridden close to 100 winners now including a Saturday Metro double yesterday which included one for his boss Mel.
At 24 with maturity on his side and the ability to ride at 51kg you will be seeing a lot more of Luke Rolls.
( Luke is managed by Gallopers   emthup  and has been for app 8 months )

He seems to be riding really well.  emthup
I snared the trif in R8 & nearly fell over when I saw the div. Would have even paid better had Luke got Roll'd by 2nd horse. Still I'm not complaining as I'd have thought would pay 1/3 of what it did.

i think Luke has improved heaps over the last 6 months and i have no doubt he is now one of the best apprentices in Bris. Sure he needs to keep impoving as do all apprentice riders.
IMO he has a future in the game.

Ive only lost 1 rider due to poaching in 10 years, he no longer rides and told one of my other riders at kembla one day it was a bad mistake.  :what:

Theres no contracts with me, find someone who will consistently provide a better service than i offer and go for your life.  :bye:

I love the blokes that think theres an easy buck in the Riders Agent caper, i love waving them good by  :bye:

I know of one forumite that was very happy with Lukes' ride on Gold Trail.

He had the biggest place bet I've ever seen @ $41.00.  This was him straight after the race.   :clap2: :bop:        :no1:
