I wonder what the rules are for a jockey to serve the time of their suspension when it comes to being rubbed out for say 10 meetings... when there arent any meetings?

Very good point diddles, you would hope that the authorities take that in consideration and base in on the pre programed meetings.  What happens when a meeting is cancelled due to rain.

Cancelled due to rain westie still counts as a day off suspension but of course that is after acceptances and jockey nominations. In this case there are meeting programmed but nomination shut down. One would hope it is counted on scheduled meetings as it would be an even worse financial blow to the jocks if not.I know someone who might be able to answer the question tonite... will keep you posted.

Damian Oliver out for 16 meetings while Steven Arnold is out for 14 meetings.  Who will ride Marasco, as I think Paul Harvey is also suspended.

Four jockeys at Caulfield yesterday suspended by stewards on careless riding charges.  Damien Oliver, Vlad Duric, Luke Nolen and apprentice Sebastian Murphy.  This is Oliver's second this month, would have to think he was only doing his best for owners.

Never mind plenty of interstate jockeys crying out for a ride.

Corey Brown was suspended after Thousand Guineas Day on Wednesday for his ride on O’Perfect One.

Racing Victoria stewards suspended Brown from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight Saturday 20th October & to expire midnight 1st November.

Brown will be free to ride Maybe Better in the Caulfield Cup & will be back in time to ride the Brian Mayfield-Smith trained horses in the Melbourne Cup.

Greg Childs will miss the Cox Plate meeting at Moonee Valley after he was suspended for 8 meetings for careless riding on Magicalmysterytour at Cranbourne last Sunday. But the popular rider will be aboard outsider Railings in the Caulfield Cup. His suspension starts at midnight on Saturday.

Corey Brown had partial success in his appeal against the severity of a careless-riding ban but had to forfeit the ride on Devil Moon in the $3 million Cox Plate at Moonee Valley.

His 12-meetings penalty was cut to 10 and he can resume at the Werribee Cup meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) week but he is resigned to missing the Cox Plate.

Hong Kong jockey Glen Boss yesterday decided to appeal against a careless-riding ban after he finished third on Princess Coup in the Caulfield Cup.

Greg Childs will get the ride on Lad Of The Manor after appealing against an eight-meeting ban, getting it reduced to six. (I presume that's in Cox Plate.)

Well I think he does mind, he is appealing the severity of the penality and trying to get one day knocked off so he can ride Bluetigroo in the MC.

From what I saw of the replay (overhead shot), I didn't think Nolen caused interference at all.  Sure, he seemed to brush the other one, bit it didn't look as if he hindered, or interfered, at all.

Very happy for him that he got it reduced.  I have seen far, far worse rides and interference bu certain protected species without penalty being handed out.

B Rawiller was found guilty of a charge of careless riding and was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence at midnight on Saturday, 3rd November and to expire at midnight on Thursday, 15th November, 2007, a period covering 12 race meetings (3 metropolitan/9 provincial). In considering penalty, Stewards took into account Rawiller’s good riding record.
