Tony Gollan trained three winners at theSunny Coast yesty should have been four MUSCHIALLI ridden a poorly judged race by Ben Thompson would/should have made it four in R4
Stewards accepted his explanation

Race 4: COASTLINE BMW 2 SERIES COUPÉ QTIS Three-Year-Old Handicap 1000 metres

MUSCHIALLI – Slow to begin. Held up approaching and rounding the home turn before shifting out across heels near the 300 metres to obtain clear running and again had difficulty obtaining clear running near the 200m. Stewards questioned B Thompson, rider of MUSCHIALLI, over tactics adopted near the 350m where there appeared an opportunity to take a run between RUBIQUITOUS and PRINCESS LUNAR. B Thompson stated whilst a run did momentarily present itself near the 350m he was of the opinion RUBIQUITOUS was inclined to shift out and for this reason he was reluctant to fully pressure MUSCHIALLI at that point of the race. Trainer T Gollan advised Stewards he was satisfied with the way the horse had been ridden adding that MUSCHIALLI possess only a short sprint and races best when held up for one final run. After considering the evidence in totality Stewards were of the opinion the actions of B Thompson were not unreasonable in the circumstances, particularly given that the run in question closed a short distance later. B Thompson however was reminded to ride his mounts in such a manner to not leave his actions open to question.

Check out the stewards' vision in the straight failed to take a run .

L Nolan on Midas Prince today at Flemington wasn’t much better than an apprentice either. Gave up the 1x1 to sit 3 & 4 wide.  :clap2:

Nolan off, barrier 3, 4kg weight drop. Distance a possible concern  :chin:

B Prebble on Mallory

3 wide on a slick pace and makes his move before the turn only to predictably get the staggers.

Proving jocks don’t win races, barriers, horses and luck do. Reference  D. Oliver on Jacquinot who left Pikes whistle in the change room

Horses can sit out wide at the Caulfield 1200 metres and win.
Have been doing it for years.
Look at a map of the course Wily

Maybe the Sydney filly was just not good enough....3 very good fillies ran the placings there!

Thanks Nem, I know they can and I think she’s as good as that lot. The first run that way probably played a part. Don’t think she did any track work there either

There were some jocks today in the Apollo who are hoping their horses improve second up. I thought some jocks should have tried to get off the fence especially VE. I am Superman would have been better suited with a softer run as would have Riodini.

Leave me some
Canterbury Friday night
Race 4

Leave Me Some - When questioned regarding his riding, App. T. Schiller reported that he had been instructed to ride his mount in a conservative manner as the mare has a tendency to overrace. He added that he had anticipated settling in a midfield position, however, after beginning slowly he was obliged to settle at the rear of the field, which was further back than he had intended. He added that near the 800m he elected to obtain a position on the running rail behind Ciccina as he was of the view that this was the better part of the track. When further questioned regarding his riding rounding the home turn, App. Schiller said he elected to remain racing on the better part of the track behind Ciccina and was reluctant to restrain his mount in order to shift out and cover additional ground. He added that, as a consequence, he was unable to improve as quickly as he would have liked but was able to place his mount under full pressure from the top of the straight whereby Leave Me Some finished off its race strongly.
Sweet Angeline – A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Co-trainer Mr A. Bott was reminded of the provisions of AR79(4).
Ciccina – A post-race veterinary examination did not reveal any abnormalities.
In Lighten Me – Began only fairly. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have bled from both nostrils for the first time. Co-trainer Mr S. Alexiou was reminded of the provisions of AR79(4)).
Mosht Up – Raced keenly in the early stages.

Given the instructions I don’t see anything wrong with the ride aside from missing 5he kuck half a length which generally isn’t the jocks fault :chin:

I did mate. Think he did the right thing and he certainly wasn’t impeded to the point of losing momentum. Clear run trough.
If h3 wen5 out side it would have cost him ground and certainly not won

Nice run

On face value not a bad ride but please, James, get T. Clarke off Colette 🤬🤬🤬🤬

He just rides her too forward and doesn’t suit

Can we have a late nomination for Rachel King on Galaxy Belle

Indecision on the bend then manages to get stopped in her tracks as the winner built momentum wider. Cost herself the victory imho

I missed the $18 early week, on at $12 prior to deductions and starts around $6

Not sure about that one Gintara....Surefire came from behind Galaxy Belle.
I had a bit on her as well
Surefire galloped on Dadoozdart at the 150, I reckon and it hurt him.

What can you say other than just another typical Sydney staying race.
The Waller man's fav is out the back.....beaten 17 lengths and the long priced stablemate wins.

Well you should be laughing Gin.

Imagine how upset you’d be about not getting the 18s had she won.

Take advantage of such rather than let it be a problem.... The you have a sure fire winner!

A Sure Fire winner fours?????

You had more than a 100 goes on the winners thread.
It has to be said winners were very hard to come by for you....very, very hard!

The Waller man had two first starters there.....how did you settle on the sure fire one?????
Wonder what happened to the fav????

It's not so much a problem for me....just more of a reminder.
Sydney racing has been hijacked by mega- stables.

nemisis,

Waller has done this many times before.
It is why I mentioned it around a week back ie before today's race .... rather than after it as some sniping suggested.

nemesis I was investigating whether a normal distribution around 4th existed on some criteria I looked at rather than chance. I succeeded in showing that over the sample here. Had there been lots of winners I would have failed to show what I was investigating.

Winning tipping comps is not something new to me and not a concern of mine to keep achieving. Improving my own approaches is what i look into.

If you don't try however nemisis you will never achieve it.
