I've got to go through all my 4 tips in the tipping comp. Cannot believe the luck I copped with all 4. At least So Charming is still alive.
RACE 7: Coolmore Denise'sJoy Stakes 1100m:Wayupinthesky
– Near the 100m had to be steadied when disappointed for clear running between Satin Socks and Aquitaine, which shifted out slightly. Stewards found that Wayupinthesky had not established clear running when Aquitaine shifted out.
Kembla RACE 4: Poplar Pe tfood and Produce 3YO Maiden Handicap 1200m:So Charming
– Change of tactics –to be ridden conservatively:
Settled back. Began awkwardly and made contact with Knight. When questioned, C. Lever stated that after blundering badly shortly after the start the filly travelled only fairly. He said that in the middle stages, when So Charming did not feel comfortable in its action, he elected to ease the filly out of the race from the 700m
. A post-race veterinary examination revealed the filly to be lame (1/5) in the near foreleg. Stable representative Mr C. Duckworth was advised that a veterinary clearance would be required prior to So Charming trialling to the satisfaction of Stewards.
Gold Coast Race 8: Brandons Gold Coast Guineas – 1200m EXHILARATES
– Held up in the early part of the home straight and shifted out approaching the 200m to the outside of HIGHTAIL in order to improve.
Robby Fradd had a difficult barrier and elected to grab hold at the start and go back to the fence in 2nd last position. I don't blame him for that. On a fair track it wins the race. It re-enforces the fact that if you draw wide at the Gold Coast then unless you get an easy lead/sit outside the leader then you are going to be posted and then it is all over red rover.
Given the importance of Gold Coast racing I wish they'd build a better track - same as Rosehill sprints - that 1200m chute on the inside of the track makes sprint racing a joke. Now that Shell has moved out of the refinery maybe they cold improve the track.
