Sophie Logan on Star of Monsoon in the 3rd at Adelaide.

Jogging in the straight on the favs back, only had to follow it through, may not have beaten it (we'll never know) but instead steered straight into a dead end and not getting out

I was waiting for the stewards report on the first race at Northam yesterday before commenting about the ride on the favourite #6

2   6   XAN BIO   Held up for clear running from on straightening until taken outwards approaching the 150m.

Is that the best the stewards could say  What about the bit before that and before the home turn?

Anyone who backed W. Costin on Newtown Belle in the 6th at Corowa would be livid right now

Ease around one horse on the turn and win. How focking hard is it

Agreed . but that is probably why she is plying her trade at Corowa. Check out the ride on the third horse in the first at Yeppoon Today. There was a time when this talent wouldn't be allowed at a TAB Meeting. However the demand for the punting dollar has ruled that standards are not what they used to be.

Mate first observation about that race is the call - he doesn't even call it on the first run through.

The mare is turning her head in the straight - first out then she suddenly darts back in.

2 wins from 20 starts. Hasn't won since Boxing Day 2018.

I wouldn't be following up

Take a look at the head on soon after they straighten. Knocks over the one on her outside.

The chick on Bogart in the 4th at Belmont.
What was going on? It looked like she kept grabbing hold every time the horse tried to improve

Stayer resuming and on first look it smelt :chin:

Well spotted Wily -simply wasn't there ! PP ; not like you to be so critical ; more my  field ! But you are right , horrible ride from alleged top rider. On another subject I was thinking Today , are  R King and J Kah the best two female riders we have seen in this Country ? If they are not they must be very close.

Yes I was talking through my kick and this thread is an important release for many.

Had it running for a big return. He was happy to sit 3 and 4 deep for the entire trip at Canterbury of all places - and it wasn't as if he drew the extreme outside.

Then to see it run up to win only to run out of puff.,

All jockeys show poor judgement from time to time. This was as bad as Bowman on Farnan for mine.

Rachel King - I would not hesitate to put money on her mounts. Great rider who obviously does her video form and goes into the race with a plan. If she was on Kingsheir it would have won no doubt.

Rarely follow the Vic racing these days so not up to speed with Kah (not that I have anything against Vic racing. But it is just so time consuming and tiresome to get some video form on the screen from the hideously slow web site racing.com that I gave up. ).

I think  Rachel King is very good and I have no issues backing her. Sammy Clenton is also good and in Queensland I donít  hesitate when Stephanie Thornton is on
I happy backing Jade McNaught & Lucy Warwick in Perth

Personally Iím not much of a jockey follower, they all have shockers and many from the good jocks arenít talked about.
The likes of Pike & Williams slaughter just as many as the girls do

It was pretty ordinary, no idea how he thought going back to the inside was a good move

The replay on the TAB web site for that race has voices in the background.

Sure one of them is Radley cheering on Hungry Heart only to moan when it gets beat

Well that winner won't ever win another race now. Time for them to sell it to Hong Kong.  :bulb:

I know you get a claim for a reason when backing a kid but Tom Sherry on Cosmic Haze in the Hwy

After a butcher job from Collett out at Coonamble we get Sherry slaughtering this through indecision, horse jumps well, he goes forward but then grabs hold and drifts back thus stuck in limbo wide, sets it alight early to be wide and towards the lead turning in only to have spent his lollies 300 from home.

He gave it no hope.

Can someone leave the lights on at Gundagai for McDougall, asleep at the wheel to find himself locked away whilst it unfolded around him before flashing late once the bird had well and truly gone

Superium at Newcastle Saturday never out of trouble raced greenly a handful for Louise Day be on me next time.

Stewards Report
Superium Ė When questioned regarding the tactics adopted, rider App. L Day stated she had been instructed, from an awkward barrier, to ride the gelding conservatively and anticipated taking up a position behind midfield.  She added that on jumping she allowed her mount to settle where comfortable and this resulted in Superium taking up a position towards the rear of the field.
She said that making the first turn she elected to hold a position one off and soon after was bumped on a number of occasions by Mocambo as that runner endeavoured to shift Superium to the rail.  App. Day further stated that she was able to hold her one off position, however, Superium  commenced  to  race  keenly  for  some  distance  thereafter  due  to  the contact  between  the  two  runners.
She  said  that  leaving  the  700m  her  mount  became positioned close to the heels of Isalute when that runner steadied in front and as a result she became held up behind that runner making the home turn.  She added that when Isalute shifted out on straightening she endeavoured to obtain a run between that runner and St Covetís  Spirit,  however,  when St  Covetís  Spirit shifted  out  slightly,  she  was  initially disappointed for this run, before then being positioned close to the heels of Cafť Royal as that runner commenced to weaken, which resulted in Superium being badly held up on the heels of that runner.
App. Day said that she then endeavoured to improve between Cafť Royal and  Isalute, but then again had to check from the heels of Mr Polar when that runner commenced to give ground and as a result she then shifted in a number of horses towards the rail in search of clear running, but again over the concluding stages could not be tested when badly held up on the heels of Let It Pour.
Trainer Mr J Pride confirmed the instructions issued and, whilst disappointed that Superium was not able to secure clear running in the straight, was satisfied with the settling position of the gelding in the early stages, particularly as it does have a strong finish when ridden in this manner.

After considering all the evidence, the Stewards advised  App.  Day  they  were  satisfied  that  the  tactics  she  endeavoured  to  adopt  were reasonable in the circumstances and when in the straight, whilst Superium did not secure clear running, she endeavoured to take the first available opportunity to improve, but was disappointed for clear running on a number of occasions due to runners in advance giving ground.

A post-race veterinary examination revealed the gelding to be 3/5 lame in the near-foreleg.  Trainer Mr J Pride advised that Superium had pleased him leading into the race and was carrying no identifiable condition prior to the running of the event.  Mr Pride was asked to provide a veterinary clearance prior to Superium barrier trialling or racing again.

Giddy Up
