Gintara ( Dummy) Santa hasn't changed , the Cup has. If you are going to use silly hackneyed phrases at least make them relevant to your "argument".

Dean , can you nominate a race that excites you?

I do recall you were scathing about the Adelaide Cup as well.

I might have agreed with you years ago when the O/S horses started to come but in this day and age the form is so exposed and available to all and sundry there's no excuse.

Seeing you long for the old days (where the grass was greener and the girls prettier) Which local horse was denied a start because of the O/S horses? Would they have made the Cup better?

Looks like you can have a duo to boo Santa http://www.theage.com.au/sport/horseracing/melbourne-cup-goes-offshore-day-runs-aground-20171107-gzgqmc.html

Unless you're actually Greg?

Gintara thank you for alerting me to a quality piece of journalism. In your world that profession probably passes for propaganda which is what Murdoch's grubby little papers get paid by the racing industry to print their fields. Not to mention the Industry's own sanitized media vehicles such as Sky. Objective journalism in Racing is a thing of the past. Probably a little difficult for someone who can't come up with an original thought. "Booing Santa "; gee someone used that as a line 30 years ago. It seems to me that correspondents like yourself seem to accept everything that is put in front of them by these propaganda machines are accepted as gospel. I remember over 18 months ago when silly old Dubbledee and the equally foolish Ascot were telling all and sundry on this forum how wonderful the new Eagle Farm racetrack was going to be. I remember letting them both know on many occasions that they basically wouldn't have the foggiest idea which way was up. I stand by  my comments. Where are they now ? Too embarrassed to even appear here any more. They must be feeling like a couple of the biggest dills God ever put breath into. Gintara you are heading straight down the same channel if you keep blindly nodding your head at every utterance manifested by a sanitized press.

I'm firmly in the camp of having the OS horses in the Cup.  It adds to the degree of difficulty and gives us great overseas exposure.

I'd like to see the Japanese back although they make it really hard with their top class stayers.

Would you rather watch Libran, Grand Marshall or WSTB win the Cup?

Let the donkeys run in the Sydney Cup as usual.

There's an Aussie stayer race for you.

And of course you did not really need a computer to isolate those chances.  But a computer intelligently used can open a whole new life, hobby  or even an enterprise, for anyone, including school students, interested.

And Peter you should have noticed that this information was on the Forum in this thread, ( excluding the results info ),  early Monday 6th November morning, from a computer run on the 5th November, for a race run on the 7th of November 2017.

Of the top six Rated horses on a Weight Modified Speed basis, with their Ratings  all within 3.0 lengths
of the Top Rated 21 Four of them filled one of those six top placings, including the Winner The Fourth, the Fifth and sixth places.
What is the order  in which you would have expected them to finish? .

First four over the line came from barriers 2, 3, 4 and 5.

That track is an absolute joke.
Yes it was hard to believe your eyes after the very fair track on Saturday.

Could the bias just simply be, that after some rain the inside part of the track drains more quickly.

These biased tracks are hard to cop.

pegasyber,

It had to happen sooner or later .... using 2 methods but only going with one....

My second method   (involving several picks ) got the result on its ear but I did not go with it this year as Almandin was looking so dominant. Unfortuantely it ran a 3400m metre race instead. variance undoes all who rely on judgement sooner or later!

The First Four dividend has been discribed as paying a little tight Peter so once again you have it wrong. Class horses outside of the top 2 favs being in the result the reason why.

Nearly 16 million in the F4 pools so people are clearly happy with the bet type.

Except for one ding bat

Has Aiden O'Brien finally twigged to what he needs to do to win a Melbourne Cup?
JV not the typical dour stayer he would normally bring over.
Some people doubting it would run the 3200
Also, two lead up races into it.
Was beaten by a horse that didn't have a lead up run though :)

I think if you back a horse in the Cup with a certain F. Dettori on board you need to have your head read.

Dean / Gunbower (whichever one you are)

You obviously don't pay attention as you couldn't be more wrong about me.

I'm someone who questions everything  they read, I believe in what I see with my own eyes and thoughts, I regularly call out when I don't agree or I know people are simply wrong. Occasionally that ruffles feathers, so be it.
