More than half this field is not rated to carry the allotted weight in a 'listed' race of $200,000.

......... how does this make sense?

This field should be culled lest the congestion of 'too many' delivers another rough result for TAB punters.

The Packenham portents are not all good

Racecourse Details:

Pakenham Racecourse has a track circumference of 1,400 metres and a home straight being 300 metres long. It has 2 good long straights, well grassed and irrigated. Inside barriers are an advantage for most starts due to the 2 long sweeping turns.

With full fields of 12 or so -- what do you think is going to happen on Saturday?

What does RVL know will happen on Saturday?

The track you describe there Peter is no longer there.

The new course is one of the best.

The new Pakenham track is now the largest in Australia.

Circumference of 2400mts.

Home Straight of 480mts with a slight incline not unlike Sandown.

Jockeys are commenting, "it will take a strong horse to win over distances longer than 1200mts".

Sounds alright to me Mr Mair.

Sounds good to me also.

It is a problem when 'know your tracks' does not'.

Is there any web site with a factual summary of the 'new' Packenham track?

While one is never surprised about RVL , a google search and a race site search has virtually nothing -- ZILCH -- about what punters are invited to bet on this Saturday.

............. is there a form guide to the Packenham track, please?

Hi Peter,

I found a layout of the new Pakenham track.

The Black outline is the Grass Track.

The Orange outline is the Poly Track.

Google the following site.

Marketing is about the 4 Ps -- one 'P' is about the Place

If RVL is putting a standalone on at Packenham the punters would like some facts and figures on barriers, course records.

The 'layout' diagram is better than nothing but, really, RVL needs to get its team into gear.

Racenet says tracks OK --but

Don't be put off by what looks like a race meeting on a provincial track. The Pakenham track is probably the best track in Victoria with the sweeping turns into a long home straight. With perfect weather over the last few weeks we should be betting with confidence. Overall, it's a wide open betting meeting with a stack of chances in most races so it looks another good day to play some wider exotics around our top few picks. Keen to have three strong win bets and we think we've found one at huge odds that can run a big race in the cup that's a must for any exotics.

Will be interesting to see how it plays. Think the clubs get a big day and try to do the right thing by presenting a perfect track. As a result there is no wear and tear on the rail and leaders often dominate. Hope they have a good day.
