Was whooping it up at a Christmas Party last night when the mobile rang at midnight.  Was my daughter calling from Forbes in central NSW.  She was proud as punch having just delivered a baby by emergency caesarian (her first)...an unexpected chore on a quiet Saturday night in the bush.

Guess who is a very proud dad today?

Probably the baby's father

I'm fairly sure the delivered baby isn't a relation to Ascot, he is merely saying his daughter delivered her first baby.

I think i'm right  :chin:

Spot on.  Nah my girl is the Doctor not the mum.  Doesn't stop me being proud of her.  She has delivered her quota before this, but this was the first one she had to cut out by herself.  Quite an achievement.  Hopefully the first of a few thousand.

Ascot, spare us the gory details, but do they still use towels and hot water?

No  DD they don't.  As I recall you were delivered that way in the bush early in in the previous century were'nt you?

I have sat in on three caesars and there was not a towel in site.  It is all about neat incisions, aseptic practices and ability to close with a bit of skill.  Racehorses will give you the gory details if you need.

Since you asked, poor old Ascot was in hospital himself last week for a bit of plastic work on the nose.  Been in hosp so often this year I joined the frequent flyer program.  Looked alright to me but every time I went outside last week  the birds stopped chirping, and children would cry at the shops as I walked past.

But turned out well worth the effort.  The cut was 15mm long with 9 stitches, but ya won't even see with time.  Pretty good looking bloke eh?

Ascot, I have never understood the "towels and hot water" bit.  I reckon neither were necessary.  As for my own origins, they're a bit of a mystery.

See the opening post.  The night you were caught stowing away on HM Yacht Britannia.

Ah, the Royal Yacht.  I still miss it.  Ya know it is now a museum, docked at Leith in Edinburgh.  That was a cracking night with HRH, and that party with Charles and Diana after they married....the stories we could tell eh.  Does Camilla still keep in touch?

Yes, the yacht rocked that night.  And it wasn't because of the tide.   :nowink:

Haven't heard from Camilla since last in London.

At least the binocs were not one eyed.

Gee age can catch up on you can't it.  That was taken about 1972...40 years ago.  Vadim would have still been a boy on a sheep property in NZ, his later dominance in the Cleveland mafia just a boyhood dream.

Nice photo Ascot but instead of using one from the TV series "Thunderbirds" what about showing us what you really looked like at a young age. :)
