Iíve been finding it hard to win consistently lately....often going close but finished up backing the wrong one when I liked a few others in the same race.... so I decided to give Letsgohorseracing Late Mail a go....Saturday  was a winning day... I donít bet in every race only on Saturdays before going to golf. I prefer Brisbane where Iím more familiar with the horses and jockeys.

Brisbane  late Mail was for  Borazon 3.40, Red Stina 8.50, and Hold The Line in the last.... a get out special @$11 ..... tips included the Quaddie $2042 and three other winning Trifectas.

I didnít bother with Sydney or Melbourne Tips but  checked them against the results.... 4 of the top selections saluted and  while they were no fancy prices a winner is a winner ..... Tips included 7 of the 9 winners plus Trifectas and just  missed the Quaddie when Algadon Miss upset the applecart in R7.

In Sydney 3 on top selections arrived with 5 other winners included as chances in the other races. Catesby was the only winner missed .....three winning Trifectas one worth $1388 in the race Ligulate won.

A very good service LGHR Late Mail  IMO well worth the sub.

I always watch the replays and  keep a black book one selection from my black book tomorrow is Champagne Jet.

Tony Gollan is a good judge..... his form talk on Gollan Racing on the internet is worth checking out.

The AGM of the golf club is coming up on Monday week there are 7 nominations for the four Director positions three of whom are seeking re-election so if the sitting members are returned only one of the challengers will be successful ..of course it maybe that the members who bother to vote  might decide some new blood might be of benefit...hard to understand why the voting turnout is likely to be somewhere around 50%....all we need to do is fill in the voting slip and return it to the club by the closing date hardly an onerous task ...........   the President is unopposed as is the Captain but the Treasurer didn't stand again and there are 2 candidates contesting this position...I'll be assisting the Returning Officer to count and record the votes...it will be a busy few hours with the number of candidates for Board positions.

The Keith Noud Quality run today in memory of the late Keith Noud the ABC broadcaster on course race caller and Telegraph Journo brought back memories of one of his few errors in a close finish. It was the last race during the Winter Carnival many years ago  I was working as a bookies clerk for Frank O'Neill a Toowoomba bookie who had been invited to field at the carnival by the QTC ...my job was paying out at the back of the stand and the only race I ever had a chance to watch  was the last as they paid out at the front  of the stand so I would always be free to go out the front and watch the race near the winning post..it was a low grade race Keith called the finish Purse Proud or Rosarium photo ...Rosarium had won clearly by a head or a neck..when I got back to the stand Frank was betting 3/1 Rosarium I said "Frank its won " I repeated that but he ignored me and kept trying to lay it ..so I pulled out a roll that one of the clerks had given me in case he wanted a bet ..Frank saw the roll and said "you've got 60 to 20" ....pounds in those days.... no oncouse TV only radio ...no sooner had he laid the bet up flashed number 6 Rosarium...."Pay Jimmy 60 quid" Frank hadn't laid Rosarium it was a Toowoomba horse trained by Les Watterson..he probaly had some mail it could win Frank was very well informed  I still remember the finish Rosarium  White with Black braces beat Herb Reardon's Purse Proud in a photo a winning day 20 quid wages plus the 60 it was fortune my weekly wage was only around 5 quid a week...today was a good result I got the quaddie when Outback Barbie saluted although Tambo's Mate second would have been better .
Vale Keith Noud.

We had the Wednesday Club annual Christmas party on Wednesday night Oysters prawns various other delights no desserts but plenty of drinks the entertainer was Greg Ritchie former Test cricketer who has a wonderful gift in telling jokes in foreign accents especially Pakistani .....  One joke he told concerned two 30 yo Irishmen Paddy and Mick who shared a flat together ....Paddy said to Mick in his Irish accent "I've booked two seats for us tonight down at the local hall for The Faith Healing Program "...."I'm not going down there" said Mick "I'm stayin' home to watch the football "....."Suit yourself " said Paddy ..."I'll go by meself."..so away he went and 40 minutes later he was back home......" It was a waste of time goin'" said Paddy ..."Even those in wheelchairs got up and walked out"
