The best part of this idea is that people can block it on their profile.

Mine will be from a battlers point of view.

Scriven hasn't had many rides so I suppose his timing might be out.

We cannot get a greyhound track out here at Logan but the Lions are on there way with 200 poker machines. This we don't need.

Then again I will probably join just to go and have a look.

For those that know the area a little, the Club will be in the old Ikea building at Springwood

Logan council have tried to make sure that a lot of the money made will be kept out here for our local juniors.   Remains to be seen if this happens.

I have a laptop that I use to place my bets if our main computer is being used by some one else.

Even though you can buy laptops pretty cheap these days, I was wondering if it would be better to get one of these new Telstra touch pads next time.

Might go down to Loganholme where our nearest Telstra store is and make enquiries as to what I can use them for.

If anyone knows anything about these , please let me know.

Grats
The market is going to be saturated with these devices over the next six months.  I'm after an ebook reader similar to the ipad, the LG Optimus Pad  sized between the 7 inch telstra touch and the ipad will be released next February.  If you must have one don't go to a telstra shop go to this place http://www.uniquemobiles.com.au/items/telstra-touchtab-7for7 and save yourself $20.00.  I have purchased three phones from them in the past and delivery is next day.  In your case you may be close enough to walk  :) actually not sure how far it is from Woodridge but can't be to far.

The touch is a rebadged model (Huawei S7 Android tablet): http://www.mobilityfeeds.com/mobility-feed/2010/10/huawei-s7-android-tablet-available-almost-everywhere-2.html  It is good I just think it's over priced.  This link will take you to the Samsung model  8-) but out of my price bracket http://goodereader.com/blog/tablet-slates/galaxy-tab-will-have-gingerbread-and-honeycomb-updates/ and

if that is not enough here are another five up against the ipad       http://thecopypasteblog.com/ipad-alternatives-5-competing-tablets/

Thanks Westie.

My daughter in law works for Telstra at their Albury outlet so I'll ask her what sort of deal she can get there and also to check these things out to see if they suit me.

No real rush as my laptop will do the job for sometime yet I hope.

Shock horror but if it comes to it I can always go back to putting my bets on by phoning the operator at Unitab.

The Galaxy Tab, is a very nice piece of hardware, but the price is a little steep for that type of device.

One of a number of advantages over the iPad, is voice calling, it can be used just like a mobile phone.

actually, the Galaxy Tab, is just a larger version of my phone, the Galaxy S.

But Westie is correct, there are going to be a lot of Android type iPad devices coming to the market in a rush.

Optus, have something similar, to the Telstra offer, but for $275

One thing to be weary of is, if you are going to get one, make sure it does WIFI, plus 3G

Personally I don't understand the concept of the Ipad??
It is slightly smaller than a regular laptop- but there are MUCH cheaper alternatives that are the same size as the Ipad.

What does it do that a $150 8 inch doesnt do??

I think it is a mrketing/sales gimmick like all the Apple crap.

Portability, and touchscreen mate.

If you get a chance to play with the Galaxy Tab, the major competitor to the iPad, you will love it.

It is half the size of the iPad, but twice the size of a smart phone, so you get best of both worlds, a screen bigger enough to browse the net, plus smaller enough, to carry around easily.

You won't get anything worth while, in the tab or netbook for $150.

But in saying that, the offerings from Telstra, and Optus are not to bad.

I'm a bit of a sucker for these type of toys.

I know you can get second hand laptops for bugger all these days.

We have a great computer shop that is close and he sells real cheap stuff.

As I say it is just that I like these type of things.  Wife reckons it is because I am a Gemini

If you look at one, the type of screens are also important.

From resistive to capacitive, to oled, super oled, and lcd.

Main concern is the sensitivity, and the smoothness in which the screen scrolls, when dragging the finger across it.

Resistive, needs to be used with a stylus, where a capacitive is with your finger, and much better IMHO

Also, multi touch is also important, as this is what allows you to zoom in and out, by using two fingers.

I am an Aries, and have more toys then my 3 children  :shy:

I guess I am fairly easily pleased with regards to technology.
The cheap stuff I buy does everything I need it to.
I an certain many people pay way too much money for things they dont need or use.
I guess I am a cheapskate.

I too am an Aries Magic, that may explain a few things      (and a snake if that means anything :chin:)

No doubt you will find something you like.
That doesn't mean it is a good buy though.

I like brand new BMWs, but there would be no logic in me buying one as far as I can see.

I am not like most though  :shy:
