This is the 2018 Quirindi Cup run in February over the same distance. Highlighted ones engaged tomorrow.

11 7 BUON NATALE Benjamin Smith Josh Adams 4.41 4 54 56.39

Evangelist meets Egyptian Ruler 3 kg worse off for what is essentially the same finishing position. It meets Loud Enough 1.5 kg worse off.

Kilmarnock is the 4th emergency with no scratchings tonight so won't waste any time on him suffice to say if he gets a run his Quirindi Cup run gives him a chance in this

Present Sense is 5 kg better off for being beaten only 1.4 lengths by Evangelist and of the 5 runners is the best off at the weights.

16 5 FLAMING ACES Brad Witt Tye Angland 34.39L 16 57.5kg

What is interesting here that is that it seems to knock out the Quirindi Cup form given how far Evanelist and Present Sense were beaten.

Unbiased and Try 'N' Run Amuk are a fair bit ahead of the Quirindi Cup form if you believe this.

The form race seems to be the Country Cup at Scone.

If that is the case then #10 Try 'N' Run Amuk meets #3 Unbiased 3.5 kg better off for almost the same finish.

But TNRA has drawn awefully and the rider if he has any plan will try and lead like he did in the Guyra Cup win.

Of the others, this looks ideal for #7 Choice Larga who is a city BM80-85 horse, but once again there is a bad barrier to contend with.

Paula Cartledge is coming all the way down from Oakey like she did last start (Tamworth BM60) and the big bloke #11 Congelator nearly won but the 61 kg told in the end. He drops down to 52 kg after the claim and he has never carried that in his entire racing career. Once again frustratingly the best chances are drawn wide.

#13 Image Of Love is an open class country horse who gets in on the limit with barrier 2 and that brings her right into calculations. She is only a 4yo mare and has a reasonable strike rate.

#16 Rockatorio and #17 Collins Street given outside chances if they get a run.

The barrier draw has killed any confidence I have in this race. The prices - cannot see any real value there.

Maybe a little each way on #13 Image Of Love from the good draw at $19.

Watch out if the 16 or 17 get a run.

#10 if he leads hard to beat but no value. Would love to see Congelator win. They interviewed Paula before the Tamworth race and she seems a real humble down to earth country trainer down from Qld just the sort you like to see win Cup races.

Meetings at Quirindi and Corowa tomorrow and I thought the form guide read was an easy one - which is usually  a bad sign  :shy:

At Quirindi I thought Race 2 #2 Elle's Nell looked a pretty safe place bet to anchor parlays.

R3 #8 Applicant might have struck a strong maiden last start (Smith runs in a Class 1 race 5) and was beaten by Saturday's Randwick placegetter King in his other two starts (so the three races to date he has run in have been won by King and Smith - so much for imaginative names).

R4 #3 Bangkok has had 10 starts for one win, six seconds and three 4ths. You get down in the weights here and there are some really quick lines going through some of these.

R5 #5 Pat's Nipper is a winning blackbooker of mine last start and goes up to a good quality Class 1. #2 Smith looked good winning a maiden at Scone last start and #6 Red Axe looked a different horse altogether to the one that had started in two starts previously when winning it's maiden last start. #9 Sons Of Bourke given a  chance with the lightweight and good draw.

R6 #9 Rockatorio (quinella with 3) and r7 #5, #6 and #8 look the only winning chances.

At Corowa, strategy here is to follow an outside stable coming into town with a few horses and I reckon Logan McGill from Mornington has found some very winnable races for his team of 4

Race 1 - 12:20PM PFEIFFER WINES MAIDEN HANDICAP (900 METRES)
   16. Coveian (7)    Lewis German    55kg    Emergency
Race 3 - 1:35PM COROWA RACE CLUB MAIDEN PLATE (1400 METRES)
   8. Belchamp (1)    Lewis German    57kg    Racing
Race 5 - 2:45PM CAMPBELLS WINES BENCHMARK 65 HANDICAP (1200 METRES)
   3. Atomic Lokade (8 )    Lewis German    58kg    Racing
Race 6 - 3:20PM MORRIS WINES BENCHMARK 55 HANDICAP (1000 METRES)
   10. Midnight Liaison (2)    Lewis German    54kg    Racing

Race 1 horse is a big chance of getting a run because #6 is already out.

Very curiously the $1.85 favourite #15 won on Saturday at Parkes. My humble knowledge of the rules of racing would suggest that this horse is ineligible to run in a Maiden which means Coveian needs only one more scratching to get a run.

Apprentice Lewis German rides all 4. Had 2 mounts on Saturday for two wins at the big Swan Hill carnival.

Good meetings at Port and Muswellbrook today.

No big prices in these. Think the bookies are on their game today.

The only one I thought was overs was She's Choosie. Indisputably the best 2yo in Country NSW she only gets 59 kg after the claim. The favourite was beaten in a Taree 2yo maiden last start. She's Choosie has won a slew of those country open 2YO plates. Can get $3.10 with a boost.

Port

R1 #1 She's Choosie
R5 #3 All Stand
R3 #2 Saganaki
R4 #3 La Biere Choisie
R2 #5 No Doubt A Lady

Muswellbrook

R2 #6 Wrongfully Wrong
R3 #1 Fort Jackson
R5 #2 Rock Sonic

In the Wauchope Cup thought they could all win except the bottom two.

In the Aberdeen Cup the favourite looks in light to my untrained eye and has barrier 1.
