Taree Cup Meeting thoughts for Early Quaddie plus Cup
Race 1Very strong set weights maiden over 1000m with some city form.
Richard Freedman has sent up #14 Ungaurded first up. Hopelessly missed the start in a trial at Canterbury then moved nicely to run 4th. Two city runs on wet tracks for one placing. A worry if it misses the start from the rails.
#6 Quick Nick has had 3 starts. At it's 2nd start it ran 3rd in a Newcastle maiden to Sangita (Snowden horse nommed for the Golden Rose) and Group 1 winner El Dorado Dreaming!! Then was sixth in town and then spelled. Two trials in preparation for this.
#2 Commissioner has run into Ef Troop and Futooh in a couple of city runs and not disgraced.
#1 Biggles Would Go was a "running on" 4th on debut and the 2nd horse out of that race stablemate Tartufo Bianco won well on Friday.
These runners rate way ahead of anything else. The unraced #9 Shamus Star has had a little bit of a nibble and is only $8.50.
TIPS: 14-6-2-1-9
Race 2A lot of runners come out of a Kempsey maiden that was one Kris Lees' horse Sunreel who graduated to Class 1 with a 5 length win last week at Newcastle. Looking at the replay of that race the best runs were from the lightly raced #6 Ted's Dream and the fast finishing #16e Backhouse Frilly.
#13 Lose The Snip ran a strong race to run 2nd to Our Espisito on Coff's Cup day. The 4th horse Meccabeh, a French import trained by Matt Dunn won as an odds on favourite winner at Doomben midweek.
TIPS: 6-16-13
Race 3Line through the bottom 3.
#5 Editors and #3 Dixie Lad drawn to get good runs and have the peak ratings to win this.
#6 Phrases, #9 Triple Choice trained by Richard Freedman and #10 Northern Charm all ran in the same race over 1400m last start. I thought the old grey Phrases ran the best race of the three and he meets Triple Choice a half better and is 4th run back stepping up to a suitable distance on his home track and Bindi and Peter had a big priced winner on Friday.
Clare Cunningham is on fire and the city form if #7 Sacred Edge and the fact it is 3rd run back it looks the on top selection. #1 Tinker Dan has the grandstand but is 3rd run back and RT on board to cuddle him. He actually beat Sacred Edge last campaign and meets the horse better.
TIPS: 7-6-9-5-3-1
Race 4There is a nice formline here with #1 Lady Wahoo. Easily beat Mizzy last start who ran 2nd to Ready To Prophet at Warwick Farm previous start. Ready To Prophet ran a close 4th to Fiesta in the G2 Silver Shadow yesterday. Gets 61 kg under the handicap conditions though which is a 7.5 kg rise on her maiden win.
The odds on favourite is Gai's #3 Fearless Girl. She was very weak in the last 200m last start in town - not sure if there was something wrong - but cannot possibly have her at that price.
#2 Selective looked sharp in a trial win and beat city winner Sedition last campaign.
#6 Luciola Belle was a hard held 3rd in a trial behind Cup runner Allzin and has good first up form.
#9 Dame Kiri is down in class and weight having had the misfortune of running into Darbies Blugirl last start
TIPS: 2-1-3-9-6
Race 7 Taree Cup.As mentioned earlier took some nice odds about #10 Allzin. How is this for a trial - reckon he is going to be ready for the 2000m first up
https://racing.racingnsw.com.au/FreeFields/VideoResult.aspx?MeetDate=2018Aug09&VenueCode=MTY1OTA0Mg==&RaceNumber=1&MeetingCategory=Trial&VideoFileType=Last400m#1 Olympic Dream - out of form.
#3 Our Gravano beaten only 4.6 by Raqeeq and Just Shine in town last start. Up 2 kg on that run.
#4 Loving Home. 2017 Port Cup winner. Has lost that form. 4th run back. Would need to improve a few lengths.
#5 All But Gone. Well up to this on form. 4th run back so should be ready to show best.
#6 Invictus. Wingham Cup winner who has been racing in town but not very well.
#7 Dubaiinstyle. Best city form gives him a chance but poor win strike rate (3 from 27).
#8 Shalmaneeser. Richard Freedman's Cup hope. 3rd run back. First two runs commendable in midweek city. Shocking draw for him but drops a bit in weight to offset that.
#9 Lady Evelyn. Favourite on the basis of a 3 length win in the Cup prelude and drops 4.5 kg. Placed in town in FM BM75.
#10 Allzin - selected and discussed before
#11 Bold And Groovy - Ken Howard winner on limit and stays there. Qld form before that consistent with big weights. 54 kg and a good draw leaves him in the chances.
#12 Don Pellegrino - dropping massively in weight and well drawn. City placed a few times in career and working to peak fitness.
#13 Red Dubawi. Regular city placegetter who has drawn the rails. If the rider pushes up a little at the start has a chance.
#14 Chalcedony. Not finsihed worse than 5th in last 10 runs and won over coursse and distance with 60kg tow starts back. 5th to Lady Evelyn in the prelude last start but beaten 5.6. Down 5.5 kg.
TIPS: 10-5-9-8 and outside chances to 12-13-11-14-7
