A thread where people can post all general denigrations of Racing NSW and it's CEO Peter V'Landys.

We won't start threads up for Racing Queensland and RVL given how "enormously successful" those two august bodies have been in recent times and it would be a waste of internet zeros and ones to do so

You haven't been paying attention PP ....... :shy:      RQ's operations have been extensively examined as has their replacement as well as  the newly created QRIC which have attracted many contributions ......not forgetting the Commission of Inquiry and to a lesser extent RV.

Giddy Up

Racing Bitch has a long history of dislike for Peter V'landys here is his latest earful.

The other side of the coin a complimentary view of the latest achievement from Davie Fowler.

MY CALL: WHY ARE SO MANY PEOPLE IN PURSUIT OF FAILURE?

By David Fowler | Tuesday, February 7, 2017 ON HRO

David Fowler is the principal thoroughbred caller for Radio TAB. David, who is a keen form student and punter, has enjoyed a lifetime involvement in the racing media. His personal blog, ‘My Call’, appears exclusively on HRO.

Why are so many people so swift to criticise and almost zealous in their pursuit to secure failure?

It's not just a racing thing but in this case it is...the announcement of the $10 million race The Everest.

Last Wednesday's release was a bombshell and that's a coup in itself in today's media environment.

The secret had been very well kept after months of planning. That's right, discussion and consultation with all of the right people over a long period of time.

The keyboard warriors must have been disappointed they weren't given a call. Their almost instantaneous voice of disapproval suggested it had been dreamt up overnight.

And on they went, complaining of elitism and the race being in the hands of a few leading studs.

And they all agreed with each other as members of the "mutual admiration society" so what they said must be right, mustn't it ?

I'm a passionate supporter of our democratic system and would be the first to say everyone is entitled to an opinion. No brainer.

But why is the tone on Twitter or Facebook so strident and demeaning on occasions?

Who are these people?

*********************************************************************************************************

The knee-jerk reactionaries rarely let facts spoil a good story.

It was too elitist and most wouldn't be able to put their hat in the ring because of the $1.8 million buy-in over three years for a starting position.

Nothing could be further from the truth.

In fact, I see this pay-up as one of the potential strengths of the concept.

There is the real possibility that the corporate world or big business will be attracted to this and will be more than happy to stump up.

There is generous flexibility within the $1.8 million. Expect the phone of the battler with the giant killer sprinter to be ringing hot.

Imagine what a big business outfit can do with such an opportunity in terms of marketing or advertising, bringing racing into a wider audience.

Yes, of course, the world's major nurseries will be playing a part but what's wrong with that?

Ever thought a race like The Everest might extend the racing life of a brilliant three-year-old rather than be whisked off to the breeding barn ?

**********************************************************************************************************

You would be naive to think there isn't some Sydney versus Melbourne rivalry in this whole box of tricks.

But here are two more myths to bust.

This hue and cry that The Everest will strip Caulfield Guineas Day of it limelight and glamour is laughable.

The Caulfield Guineas is generally a terrific contest but I wouldn't call it nation-stopping.

Most Spring Carnival enthusiasts, of the wider racing audience, stump up from Caulfield Cup day.

And the notion that because of the $10 million purse, The Everest will challenge the Melbourne Cup's supremacy, is not even worth entertaining.

The Melbourne Cup will always be the nation's greatest race and doesn't have to get tangled up in any silly prizemoney wars to maintain that standing.

*********************************************************************************************************

Racing NSW has done more for racing participants than any other state by a country mile.

Taking a stand on several issues has been vindicated in outstanding returns to participants across the Board.

The Everest concept is a bold but calculated gamble.

It should be embraced rather than cheaply criticised.

NSW needs to the same as Victoria and stop allowing trainers to accept in more than one race.

Currently, greyhound racing generates 21.7 per cent of TAB turnover in NSW, but only receives 13 per cent of the money injected back into the racing industries via the intercode agreement and 10 per cent of the tax parity funds. The thoroughbreds currently receive 70 per cent of the intercode funding, a cut most in the greyhound industry have envied for years.

Augurs for tremendous Randwick crowds for The Championships and Everest.

Yeah right.

Let's throw more of our money at V'landys' war zone!

I've often confronted you with the facts.

That you're trying to squirm away from.

The industry KPIs show punters are shunning the establishment in favour of Corporates.

And shunning Racing in favour of Sport.

One of the most damning statistics is the refusal of V'landys to publish credible attendance figures.

Not sure how any of your issues can be blamed on V'landys or racing as a whole ?

Why wouldn't punters use corporates when they offer things like best of 3 totes and starting price ?

Why wouldn't people gamble on there favourite sports when they can do so more often and do so on things they feel they know more about ?

I doubt any of this is V'Landys fault.

Exactly Auth.

Why would punters bet on an individual tote when they can get "top tote"?

He would have us believe that punters are betting with the corporates because of some hatred of V'Landys and TABCorp/Tatts.

More "fake news"

Who can be so moronic as to think you need to have this explained to you!

Punters (like everybody) change their habits primarily out of self interest.

Any Punter with both TAB and Corporate accounts will find his TAB one is under performing.

So any rational one will figure he's better off cutting his TAB patronage.

Few of them will know the underlying reason - TAB Rakes 50% higher.

And V'landys and his ilk are responsible for that obscene inequity.

But again, Punters may not be aware of that.

If a meteor demolished Hunters Hill and its colourful residents like V'landys, then this caper would still decline.

But V'landys has exacerbated this decline.

His manifesto is to shaft Punters on the deranged premise that they don't know any better.

But any of them noticing that their TAB account need topping up a disproportionate number of times appear to be able to figure it out.

The fact that corporates are allowed to indulge in predatory behaviour and offer a "top tote" product is not the TAB "under performing".

Are you unintelligent or are you being deliberately misleading.

Where do you get these figures from?

I went to have an early bet in the Scone Country Championship this morning and was prevented from doing so because of the fact that the corporate market was 140% - the top 5 horses took 95%.

Where is the 50% from for exotics? By the time the corporates clip the exotics by enforcing a max payout the takeout is probably much higher for the corporates.

Manifesto? Meteors demolishing Hunter's Hill? Colourful residents?

Let me guess. Fletcher and Cunneen live in Hunter's Hill  :o

Wow, is this a tedious task!

Betting Companies report Rakes.

Except they use the euphemism "Revenue".

If you want to dispute the indisputable 10% Corporate versus 15% TAB Rakes disclosed on official reports then knock yourself out.

And don't forget your 15% Rake is far higher after Zeljko and his obscene Kickbacks pollute the scene.

Eddie Obeid is currently serving time at Cooma, or wherever. But before that he was domiciled at Hunters Hill.

I have been known to hang out at the Bridgeview in Willoughby which is Margaret Mary Cunneen's local.
