A DRUM kit, scooter and drone are among the list of items Queensland’s suspended chief scientist is accused of buying with a government-issued credit card.

The list was revealed yesterday in Brisbane Magistrates Court when Professor Suzanne Miller appeared on 31 fraud charges relating to allegations she used a State Government corporate card to buy more than $30,000 worth of items for her own use. She draws a salary of more than $400,000 a year in her roles as chief scientist and chief executive of Queensland Museums, which she is accused of defrauding over a three-year period.

Prof Miller was stood aside last year on full pay after the Crime and Corruption Commission

(CCC) laid an initial fraud charge, alleging the senior government employee falsely claimed she was on a visa that entitled her to a $45,000 private health insurance claim.

In December, the 52-year-old was hit with additional charges as a result of a widening probe into her financial dealings.

Yesterday, Prof Miller appeared briefly in the Brisbane Magistrates Court on the new charges and the case was adjourned to next month. According to her court file, she is accused of dishonestly applying to her own use items belonging to Queensland Museum, including a drone, scooter, drum kit, industrial fan, pink LED lights, Polaroid camera and GoPro, between 2014 and 2017.

In a media release last year, the CCC said the charges related to “misuse of a government department corporate card to purchase items for her own use”. The court was told the new charges were linked to the previous allegations.

Prof Miller declined to comment after her case was heard.

Not a good recommendation for their Internal audit or ther Auditor General three years she is alleged to have been dipping into the Till bloody pathetic.

Will she get chokey surely not a suspended sentence.

Giddy Up
