Raymond Law v Queensland Racing Integrity Commission OCR309-19 Compulsory Conference 08/11/2019 1:30 PM Mediation Room 3, 259 Queen St, Brisbane

Ray put on a tantrum and was charged with improper conduct which according to the stewards report involved threatening behaviour after losing a protest at AP a few months ago........for his trouble  stewards gave him 2 years and internal review confirmed  the decision.....he was obviously upset at the decision and acted in the heat of the moment not a good tactic as it turned out.

While  he was DQ'd for two years for breaching AHR 240 (c)  stewards indicated they will consider reducing the two year disqualification to 18 months if he can provide documented proof that he has reformed his behaviour.

Tomorrow he gets his chance to produce the evidence.

On course urine testing catches another two  young people one male one female one an  apprentice the other a female track work rider ......both tested positive to prohibited substances and having been stood down previously ......stewards gave them 3 months suspension with the requirement to produce a clear sample on their return.

Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) Stewards today concluded an inquiry into a report from the analyst that a urine sample provided by licensed Apprentice Jockey Sheriden Tomlinson at Eagle Farm on 9 September 2019 contained the prohibited substances Ketamine, Norketamine and Dehydroketamine.
Apprentice Tomlinson was subsequently disqualified for a period of three (3) months to commence immediately and to expire at midnight 7 February 2020.

https://qric.qld.gov.au/wp-content/uploads/2019/11/2019-04-November-Stewards-Report-Charlie-Manfield-1.pdf

The specifics of the charge being that Miss Manfield did provide a sample of urine at the Sunshine Coast Turf Club on 8 October 2019, which contained a substance banned under 136 (1)(g)(viii) namely Benzoylecgonine which is a metabolite of Cocaine

When determining penalty the panel took into account that Miss Manfield has been stood down from riding since 8 October 2019. Subsequently, Miss Manfield was disqualified for three (3) months to commence immediately and to conclude at midnight 4 February 2020.

No mention of the out of character run by VICTORY EIGHT well in the market and expected to go well but it was never in the hunt finished tailed off 14L from the winner Jim Byrne didn't punish the horse as it was well beaten something obviously wrong big surprise the stewards didn't think it necessary to seek a reason for its below par run no vet check or swab........................ the stewards aren't doing the job expected of them when they fail the basics and overlook instances like this...no point emailing them you'll be ignored based on previous attempts to obtain information. :thumbsd:

Cobalt rule reaffirmed

The Queensland Racing Integrity Commission (QRIC) has today moved to re-state its position about the status of unresolved cobalt Steward’s Inquiries after Racing Australia’s (RA) Veterinary and Analysts Committee (VAC) review into the matters raised in relation to cobalt.

RA has reaffirmed its position and does not propose to amend the Australian Rules of Racing.

Racing Integrity Commissioner Ross Barnett said that in light of the RA decision all Queensland cobalt Inquiries currently in process would continue to be dealt with in accordance with the rules.

The VAC advice included that;

▪ there remains a view among international racing authorities that cobalt has the potential to positively affect performance and is a welfare risk at toxic levels;

▪ a typical daily diet of a racehorse meets a horse’s cobalt requirement and there have been no reported cases of cobalt deficiency in horses; and

▪ there is no nutritional, medical or welfare justification for the administration of cobalt salts by injection at any time.

Commissioner Barnett said the National racing bodies set the rules of racing, it is the role of the Commission to enforce them and all participants have the right of appeal.
