Decided against taking a quaddie today with the 1st leg of the quaddie  race 5 a 3 year old maiden plate with 8 of the 13 starters having their first start.

Surely they (unitab) could have selected another race for the 1st leg.   emthdown

UNITAB doesn't organise the format of the program, the race club does

I realise that the raceclubs set the format of the programme but surely Unitab decide which races they will have as their doubles ,trebles, and quaddies.

If there was only 3 starters in race 5 are you telling me unitab would still use that race as the  1st leg of the quaddie?....I don't think so.

Why does the quaddie always have to be race 5,6,7,8?

Punters probably expect the quaddie to be on those races consistently, and may be confused and make mistakes if different. Just a thought.  :unsu

I know that the NSW tab have had the Qld quaddie on different races to unitab.

Thats the problem with the system....with that much racing on here and around the country everything seems to be done without much thought to  best races to have these quaddie and exoctic type bets on.

What are they doing on Derby Day?? I can't for the life of me work out why the Quaddie doesn't consist of the 4 group 1s.  Why only 2 of them?

MB, just having a quick look, I'd say this will be a popular quadie with these races they have picked

2/10
11
2
4/5

Raid the piggy bank and put it all on that.

A few reasons, boater:

They're sticking to the convention of last four races.

They believe there's a positive in having the Derby as the opener.

Quaddie punters are not so much influenced by the quality/group status of the quaddie legs as they are the number of chances they can see.  Not as though the non-Group 1s are Mdns.

There's a view that pushing the opening leg more into the afternoon (1.55) will increase turnover.  12:20 for a quaddie kick-off is too early, IMO.

I have never understood this view, my money is gone by 1300hrs.

I don't even think they know which races are on.
Just stick to the last 4 which is good IMO as doesn't confuse the punters & gives punters plenty of time to get set for the Quaddie.
