I have backed Prestwick @ $17 this morning. Lovely grey Japanese stayer. A tier below their best stayers but gets in with only 53kg as a result and likes some cut in the ground which looks likely.

Gee Fanatic drops sharply in weight for this and is a confirmed starter - reportedly working the house down. Gonna snap up some $18+ on the fair.

I see press articles doing the rounds today confirming Moreira as the rider of Prestwick in the Sydney Cup. With the Happy Valley meeting tomorrow I wouldn't be surprised to see the money start coming for him as people start connecting the dots.

Almandin now into $3.50 after his win in the Tancred today.

Looking through the past winners that looks like Williams first win in the race.

2nd placed Ambitious looks up to a Group 1 race also. He is into $9 for the Cup. Who Shot Thebarman into $9.50.

5 ALMANDIN (GER) Robert Hickmott

I wonder what Lloyd paid for this. $101 looks value to me guiven the 2nd horse is a third of those odds after winning the Kergolay

Pre Stwickat the request of rider J Moreira, the horse underwent a veterinary examination
on arrival at the barrier and was a late withdrawal on veterinary advice at 3.46pm when it was
found to be 1/5 lame in the near-foreleg.

"1/5 lame"

Is that 20% lame?

If you google "Grading Lameness" the answer's there.

Grade 1 lameness is basically not recognisable at the walk but evident at the trot.
