I think its fine, they do an incredible job.

The old timers did not have television or constant replays to show up their mistakes.

I have enough trouble following one horse in a race how anybody can remember all the names and put them to sets of colours is beyond me.

spot on

greg miles is a very good caller,as is the guy in WA,and mark shean in sydney picks the tempo of a race quite well, which is not always an easy thing to do,i also don't mind t.bailey, his only real blunders are getting the close finishes wrong, which he does quite often

Is The Standard of Race Callers At An All Time Low?

What do you think the criteria should be for wanting to be a successful race caller?

Look, Sporty, just because Col Hodges calls your horse flying down the outside, doesn't mean you should get cranky when it went from 13th to 11th at the finish, O.K. ?

Sounds full of enthusiasm for an older chappy, but the calling is definitely creaky. No mind, as long as he can read the judge's numbers right.

Below is the Sky shot of the Kentish Rose - Linear finish on Saturday.  Course, 4TAB and Sky caller Wayne Wilson called Linear the winner.  It got beaten a nose.

Now we cannot let Wayne get away with such a grave lapse in judgement.  (Bear in mind this shot is taken a metre before the post, whereas WW has the added advantage of being about 8 metres before the post.)

I vote we arrange for him to present himself at the EF winning post on Saturday, and after reciting over the PA three times "I shall not get a photo finish wrong ever again" he is then subjected to a public stoning for 15 minutes.

Ok well no doubt looking at that finish...you would say he'd had won... but my argument about wayne ....is the way he called that finish you would of sweared blind that horse won by a good half lenght or more....going by the call ....and another thing.. the shadow on the ground tell another story...the inside horse as won..
