Looks like the site has been revamped, well atleast the links part and the TNHRCF link has disappeared not unexpected as the MSN forums are nearing closure.  The charge for inserting a link on Racenet is $57.20 (inc gst) for 12 months.  Perhaps we should review the 'free plugs' Racehorse Talk gives Racenet daily in two locations (Today's Racing & News thread and at the bottom of every page) here everyday.

Maybe if you made contact with them, opened up the communication who knows where it might lead or what free support you might achieve?

I'm sure comments like maybe we should review the 'free plugs" for them isn't the way to start. With 22 million hits a months, from 650,000 unique individuals I don't think Racenet would be all that uset at the loss of 'free plugs' from any forum. But maybe a new, growing forum could well do with the support of an industry leader like Racenet?

I'd think that $57.20 for a link to a commercial site is reasonable.

As this is not a commercial site, and given the over-moderating that we are experiencing, a not-for-profit-one-finding-its-feet one, I doubt whether the $57.20 should apply.

It's poor marketing IMO. Should have been $57.19.

The blurb then could be "For less than a dollar a week (ex GST).............."

I don't think Westie was serious mate,

We have lots of links that have no recipical basis, but serve as easy to find links for the community  ;)

But a link on racenet wouldn't hurt to help the community to grow

Seeing it's the 3rd incarnation of the forum they actually started, they may do it for free.

True it was tongue in cheek and if you view my comments on 'Today's Racing and News' thread  (see below) you will see why.

Guys it can be very hard to read much into posts on a public forum as it is hard to get a sense of somebodies persona or mood and many things can get misconstrued.

Westie was the one to push to have the links added in the links section and at the bottom of the forum, so to suggest anything other then that seems a little out of character from Westie.
