Hmmm today I took a rover ticket at Ballarat r7 as I thought Just Jake was ready and the value.

The ticket was Just Jake and the two favs Roved from a few others which included the 8 and 9.

Short story is Just Jake won at $10.90 and the two favs dead heated for fourth with the 8 and 9 running 2nd and 3rd.

They declared two first four divs of 5 and 6 grand due to the dead heat.

Arguably I should be paid out on both as it was a Rover which means 'any combo'

And clearly I had the combos! Maybe I am the only one that had ALL of the combos.

I am not going to fight it at this stage but it is an interesting question.

Hmmmm ..... interesting.

So rovers on same ticket were 1-3-7, so each combo in your multi would have 1-3-7 and one other runner, correct?

So no combination in your multi would have the second and third runners together ie numbers 8 & 9 togther in it.

So no collect?

Best you had on any single combination was First, Second, DH Fourth and First, Third, DH Fourth?

Wenona,

One ticket only and the 8,9 are in it eg 1,3,7R8,9

Clearly on the wording of 'any order' I have the result(s) as both the favs are in the result along with Just Jake.

The fine print probably means I lose though as I imagine it separrates the results into two combos I don't have.

Scratchy ticket legal case,

I well remember the legal case where a customer one on the basis of what the words actually meant, ( in the courts opinion ), as opposed to what the lottery office meant to say.

But I think it wiser of me to forgo a $1,600.00 collect than get off side with the TAB.

They have already provided me with a similar amount from TAB sponsored tipping comp wins.

I might that with Mrs JWH

“Sorry love, I lost again today but look on the bright side……I won’t get offside with the TAB”

You didn't take a single boxed first four with all the numbers you multiple rovers ..........

If you take three rovers and other runners you are taking boxed first first fours containing the three rovers with each of the other runners,

So if you take 1-3-7 as rovers with 8-9-10-11

You are paying for:

1-3-7-8 boxed
1-3-7-9 boxed
1-3-7-10 boxed
1-3-7-11 boxed

No combination you are paying for has both 8 & 9 in it.

There are two winning combinations because of the deadheat : 3-9-8-1  and 3-9-8-7  ... you haven't got either.

JWH,

No return on the first four but Big profit from the normal win and place bet on Just Jake.

When you get banned by a few corps you might want to keep the TAB onside too.

Wenona,

I already conceded on the numbers I don't get it but I do get it on the words...

That is the point - how would a court of law see it. In the scratchy case they went with the common English use of the words and ruled in the lawyers favor and not the lottery office.  The lottery office changed the words immediately of course.... and paid out.

ps have you done any computer programmimg. If you have you know the power and difference of the words 'and' and 'or'. If the word 'any' in the definition of a rover bet uses 'and' I get it but if it uses 'or' I don't. In essence any court challenge would be over that decision. There are many court cases that are decided on this sort of question. Questions not asked in everyday use but in an exception to the every day instance such as this.
