The Clarrie Conners trained Glowlamp had  the reputation of the best performed maiden in Australia, but not any more.

Onwards and upwards from here.

Easy to remember the spelling BW. This is how it was named

O = Oh
U = you
R = Are
O = Nought
E = E
N = ANN
E = E

oh-you-are-naughty-annie

we had one that raced up here years ago...Can't remember it's name but I think either E/F or Doomben put on special day for it.   Created a ton of interest.

dd will probably remember it's name

In regards to ourone(spelling) I do remember that horse...couldn't run out of sight on a dark night.

Asia, trained by Denham was one of the better maidens going around.

Ended up breaking its duck at around its 18th start, when it took out the then Group 1 South Australian Oaks.

It finished with stats of one win from 33 races.

So when Glowlamp wins her maiden and she will win a race, the moderators of this forum will have to delete this whole thread as it will be completely and utterly off topic.

don't bet on it,she turns 4 in august,she will still be a valuable broodmare with multiple black type placings,she has this prep and maybe 1 more,then off to the breeding barn she goes

As a maiden galloper has she earned herself a rating with the official handicappers and if so what is it ?

I can remember a horse called 'if you've come here looking for the answer, you had the right idea, but were a tad slow  :biggrin: ', starting pretty close to favourite and running 'top three' in a Moonee Valley Cup. (19XX looking at my Miller's Guide). He'd had plenty of racing at that stage was always described as Australia's best maiden.

I'll leave this hint just for you :

They eventually took him to Sydney and won one of the old Set Weight Graduation Stks type races from memory. Don't think he ever won a decent race.

It's pre 1990

Better to keep it in the blacktype races and remain a maiden from a breeding side. I mean what happens to it's value if they take it to kembla grange and it got rolled at $1.30?

Backed her in the 1000 Guineas and Wakeful last year and she is extremely honest.

Was suprised how well she went on Saturday though - wasn't on her so would have been majorly pissed had she got up!  :mad:

A loss in a maiden would have no effect on her value.

However winning a maidedn and a class 1 and having 2 wins to go with her black type placings would help substantially.

but should she get rolled in a maiden,or take a couple of runs to win one,it will detract from her value

if winning a weak maiden increases her value,as you say it would,surely getting beat in a weak maiden would decrease it

When someone buys a broodmare they dont analyse every start intimately.

However win & place percentage is a hugely important stat and having won a race is vital.

At the level this filly will be playing at as a broodmare, people will not take any notice of anything out of stakes company.
