Thought i might open a thread where people can add high profile, boom horses or others that come to peoples attention that have been gelded before a new preparation or even an existing preparation. We could hopefully get a handle on just how many improve or lose complete value.

Two who have seemingly gone backwards off the top of my head in this new year are Dunstall a well bred Sadlers Wells youngster who had 4 placing from his 1st five stats and resumed with a very lackluster first up run and another is Conistan Bluebird, talked up as a New Zealand Derby prospect during his last preparation and was gelded before this current one.

I will be very interested to see how these 2 and others go in the future.

Dunstall
Conistan Bluebird
Grand Jardin
PUCCINI
Schilling
Imvula
PRE EMINENCE
Dubai To Sydney

Geoff, from memory (albeit a fading one) did the King win first up from being gelded?....and was that the same day Miracle Mal won the first 5 races on the program?

Spot on Magic, 13th of 13 from memory behind Mondiso.
First up balless wins at 33's

I think he was 3rd up in the Hobartville and Miracle Mal elected to ride Granite King, his reason: "Kingston Town can do a few things wrong"

The black horse won in a canter

That's right.

I thought he fit Authorised's criterion.

Maybe I'm wrong........move my replies to the " Off Topic-Pointless" board.

Grand Jardin, who i believe a forumite has a link to, returned froma lay off for geldational work with a win last start.

He showed genuine promise as a 2yo before dissapointing as a spring 3yo. On his 2yo form he'd be in the market for for the Zeditave stakes as a colt. As a colt on his 3yo form he'd be long odds, as a gelding he is 9/1.

Schilling has been gelded from the Mick Price stable.  Imvula has also been gelded.  Peter Snowden had stated in the media before his 2nd placing in the Canberra Cup that he'd be cut if he didn't win.

If he doesn't perform, can they be replaced next start along with a lugging bit?

I think Schilling is the one that intrigues me the most Authorized.  A Group 2 winner at 3, of the Sandown Guineas.  Didn't show in the autumn or spring of 2008, so trainer cuts him.  Would love to see him in a race like the Doncaster.

Raced well without his stones and thankfully it is one less Galileo available to breed from.
