As those that know me from the other site i am foreman for the A Willick stable. Not sure if you want to know but could do an update for the horses in our stable and let formites know how the team is going ie..gallops etc. Am open to formites opinions on runs and there opions on what may suit the horses. Ms Willick has given this the ok so no probs there. We aint no G Waterhouse but we at the moment are going ok. If formites think an update page is just shite then please say and will abandon this thread. As for todays racing...

Koroong Avenue(Tess).. Blew a lot hareder than i would have like to see today. Was first horse beaten but held on ok to run 3rd. Might need the one more gallop that one would give any normal horse.

Mystery City(Mystery)..Got me beat. Galloped alongside Tellasecret on tuesday and looked ok.Has had some big breaks between runs in the past and we dont know why.Went up and down the last 300m today...any ideas??.
From this mornings gallops...

Washed worked with catcher Man..home 36.3 last 600m. Washed was jogging and has come back from a 2 week holiday very well.
Catcher Man went to the line well but did look like a 1400m+ horse. Washed had him beat sprinting the last 400 of there work but the maiden Catcher Man found the line well.

Stable has picked up a new horse in Margi Magic(Bert)..Worked with the M Sims trained Tellesta La Vista this morning.Thought our horse had Marks horse covered but do think he might want winkers and wants to run a trip. The most laid back horse one could ask for in a stable hence the call for winkers. Blinkers may make him over race and when he gets up over ground that will not help him.

Rest of the team...

Tellasecret(Arnold)..Would not go a yard on a wet track so forget this weekend, did not except with him. Goes very good freash.

Swinging To Win(Tarzen)...Forget last run(watch the replay). Town horse and we are working out the chinks in his armour.

Prisons(Choppa)... I dont trust this horse. Won last start but gotta front up, up in grade.

Gunsari(Bullet)..Yeah he is back..I think our best horse.

If you all dont want an update then just say and will keep quite. Ms Willick and myself are happy to put forward what the team is doing but take it as my opinion and i only ride/foreman for the Willick stable.
Oh and sacked one this morining as it could not run under 11 its last furlong. Looked ok at ready to runs but we are not going to and will not rip off the owner. We gave it three gallops..nothing.

Omni, I for one would love to hear how they are going. 8-)

Long as it is OK with the boss, I reckon it would be great.

Indeed you can and it's a nice offer from you and your boss Ms Willick. I'm sure the membership would appreciate how your team are travelling or even the daily working of the stable might be good, similar to a blog.  You should edit the name of the thread from 'Can I ???? to something more relevant: Mumblings from the A Willick Stable, The A Willick Stable, A Willick Stable Update you get the picture or you may have a better name. Mind you we don't expect you to divulge confidential information available  only to your clients nor could we as 'a not for profit forum' allow any advertising.

If you are unsure how to change the thread just ask Magic~* (owner of the site) or me (Slave) to change it for you, either way just advise the new thread name.  Then again you could just start a new thread.

Cheers

Thanks Omni, we all appreciate any help in backing winners ... and anything you can tell us coming from an in form stable like Willicks has be hard to knock back  8-)

As long as you aren't speaking out of school and aren't getting yourself in trouble, the publicity certainly couldn't hurt.

A comment on Swinging to Win,

A few of my good mates are great form students of the Goldy, and they where very disappointed with him,

To me it looked like he was sweating up pretty badly and may have been a little fizzed up ?

Also had to work very hard to cross them and couple that with being fizzed up, thought the run was enormous.

One comment I have on him though, he was ridden cold the day he ran 3rd in the big millions maiden and hit the line enormous .... any chance he would like to be ridden colder ?

edit: Not sure if you happy with the title, if not Westie or I can change it for you ... also I am not the owner, it's more a community thing .... and Westie is the go to man  ;)

Cheers

I think you are correct about riding Swinging To Win back more in the feild. He did draw wide and Paget had to decide  very quickly just where he wanted to be. You are correct in the fact he did have to work very hard to get to the lead and once there only had a breather of about 100m before they started coming at him again and he had to sprint again. Paget did comment that every time he tried to go forward and get the lead the riders inside kept kicking up and held him 3 deep. Fingers crossed for a good gate next time and we wont have to cook him up early. Horses to be nom'd for saturday...                  Gold Coast..Catcher Man(george), Swinging To Win(tarzan), Prisons(chopper)  Brisbane..Washed(omo)
Unless there is a change M Paget will ride the Gold Coast horses and C Reith will ride Washed.
Catcher Man and Swinging to win both owe me money :(
Both horses pulled up well from there runs yesterday and after watching the race again of Mystery City he did get parked wide throughout so will forgive him for the run.

OK update time(prior to fields for saturday)

Nom Update...Lord Lostock(fabio) Gold Coast.
Rider update...Swinging To Win...B Looker.

Tuesday Track Work...
Tellasecret(arnold) worked on his own and worked rather well. M Paget worked him on the velvet and was very happy with him. In hindsight we could have run him last saturday as the track at eagle farm dried all day.
Swinging To Win(Tarzan) and Prisons(chopper) worked together on the outside of the course proper. STW gave his work mate a lesson in galloping. There time for the last 600m was very good and we will not be surprised if both are right in the thick of it come saturday. Prisons would have started last saturday but his race was canned after there was not enough acceptances, this rain will aid him.

Wednesday Track Work...
Washed(omo), Catcher Man(george) and Margi Magic(bert) all worked together on the velvet which was a fast track due to overnight rain. It was Berts first hard hit out for us and he was found a touch short the last 100m as the other two are race fit. George had the wood on omo but omo did carry about 16kg's more and was on the outside(3 wide). Not sure if george will handle a wet track but if he does then i/we should get our money back he owes to me/us. I do think george is a horse with above average ability and normally a horse like that can sneak a win even on a unsuitable track. Omo has won on a wet track at the coast but weather it was because he could handle the track or just better than the others we are unsure, will know more after saturday i suppose about both of these.

Lord Lostock(fabio)...Was sent to us by his owners from n.s.w . When he came i looked at his form and could not work out why a Flying Spur gelding had not raced beyond 1200m and never had a hood on...I know why now. Pull...geez this horse goes hard early in the likes of well...omnitrader. It has taken a bit of work and time but i can now get him to relax when galloping until the 800m but after that its all on. In saying that he is now starting to find the line instead of stopping before it. I will be surprised if he is not in front and maybe he can steal a break and fall in to be in the money. Both alicia and myself will watch this horse with interest and make a call on him after this run.

Gunsari... has been stepped up to half pace this week and is coming to hand very well.

Mystery City... is jumping around like a 2yo and should show more next start. In hindsight he was a tad underdone last week and with a tough run 3 wide it all told at the finish.

Nearly time for the Fields to come out so will cross fingers and hope for some good barrier draws.

Oh and today is Miss Willicks birthday...she has the addy for this site and i am talking her into getting a nickname so she can reply to any comments/questions herself. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MISS WILLICK/BOSS

On ability Magic i would say yes, but Prisons is very fit and bright. Rail is out 12m so should as normal suit horses that can race handy to the pace.

I have noticed Doonbah Star has had his feet in wraps this past week and the farrier has been paying some special attention to him. May be a risk tomorrow from gate 11 a wet track and it seem his feet have or have had a problem. He spent alot of time in the pool but as it is empty due to maintainence he would have had to be ridden the past couple of days.

Thanks Arsenal...nice to know someone follows this thread. 8-).

We had a good weekend but i do belive it could have been better as a couple had average rides and as Alicia knows i as an ex jockey am the last to knock a ride unless i truley belive it was average, so here goes for my run down...

Washed... Went up as the gates opened and missed the kick. Was out of the T.V picture at the 600m and was pulled wide in the straight, loomed as a chance at the 250/200 but the effort told last bit.  In Reiths favour is he came back and could not say sorry enough for the ride he gave the horse. If you watched the run he will be in your black book.IMO if your last and the rail is not off as imo i thought it wasnt(winner came up the rail) why go around them. Save ground and find a path. Just my opinion.

Catcher Man...Never went a yard in the ground. Was on the fence and off the bit the whole way. Forget the run and i do think blinkers will help the horse. He has natural ability but is a horse that will have to be made a race horse as it does not come natural to him. He is like a 10yo human with a 2yo's brain. Forget the run and go again on a good track with the hood on.

Lord Lostock...Got away with murder in the first 600m and just out sprinted them home. In saying that i did back him as the bookies put him out to 26/1 and the pattern of the day suited front runners. The owners who are NSW base'd had a great day and backed him into shorter odds than we got here in Qld. The jury is still out on if he goes on with it...time will tell.

Prisons...I was not happy that the rider did not ease when being attacked in front and also stuck to the fence when it had been off all day. Would not have won but had every right to run 2nd. The rider and i had words but that was saturday and it is now forgotten and stays as the past.

Swinging To Win...Huge win. Had every reason to lay down the last 200m but kept giving. I do think he will be a better horse with winkers on and a stronger rider that can get a sit and use the sprint he has. There is a town win or two in him.

Nom's for Saturday

Brisbane...Tellasecret and Mystery City..A Spinks on whatever one gets in.

Gold Coast...Washed and Margi Magic...Reith on Washed and maybe Margi Magic(Paget was meant to ride but went for Perilous Princess instead before todays gallop).

Todays fast work...

Tellasecret, Mystery City and Margi Magic all together on the course proper...Home in 36 on dead track. I rode Mystery and thought his work was very good. He carried at least 70kg and came again the last 100m to finish on parr with the others after pulling hard early. Still may be a run away from form but could sneak a place if he gets in saturday. Will be a better horse going 7-8 furlongs.Giving away a class advanatge Margi Magics work was very good also.

For the weekend with good gates and half a run in transit..Washed and Mystery(place). Then again Bert did work good to so put him in the mix in tri's.
Hope this helps.

Gold Coast...Washed and Margi Magic...Reith on Washed and maybe Margi Magic(Paget was meant to ride but went for Perilous Princess instead before todays gallop).

Pulled the wrong rein there  :embarrassed:

Nice win, the second horse goes good, so plenty more wins install for Margi Magic.

Washed a little disappointing I thought ?

As of yeterday myself and Willick racing have gone our seperate ways. When a small trainer sling's there strappers and not staff for wins then its going to start trouble and i will not take that on the chin. Ohh and Mrs Paget....I hear from the rumour mill you have printed this thread...what i have said here i said to your husband on the day..others said things behind his back the next day(catch up and i will tell you who). I wish willick racing all the best and see no reason why they can not keep going forward. i have enjoyed my last year and a half with them and hold no grudge but as i told alicia i can make more money riding freelance. I fully understand a small stable can not pay the same as a big stable. 18 months ago i said i will help you get a name and i do not think i have let them down. i am more than happy to ride work for willick Racing but am not interested in working full time as my heart has gone fom what they offer. This is my thread for me to put forward my feelings. I will resume riding in one weeks time for D Newham and S Jones....my report will coninue from there..
ummm Magic.. i can not say what i thought of washed this week in track work...lets just say the best i rode all week was the winner...the rest needed a wheelchair. OH Ms willick or MRS paget...you got something to add??. Dont knock washed...aint right.N/F.

Sorry to see you've parted company Omni but as my mum would say when one door closes another opens.Good Luck in your new situation.I was on Washed today but didn't see or hear the race and was most surprised he didn't finish in the money although I saw the results sheet which showed he wasn't beaten too far.
