Thought it would be good to have a thread where we could share our favourite podcasts. Got an Mp3 a few months back and have really enjoyed downloading my fav programs and listening when i want to.

you don't need an mp3 player gratlog - you can download and listen to them on your computer.

The easiest way is to install iTunes and search for podcasts in there, you can set it up so that it automatically downloads them whenever there is a new episode.

A lot of ABC tv shows have video podcasts - soon after they air on TV, they put them up on the web to download, all available free.

I listen to the 'Total Rugby' podcast each week - good source of Rugby Union news, covering stuff from both hemispheres.

Grats i was talked into getting a cheap mp3 by a mate, and after pulling my hair out for ten minutes trying to workout how to get the files from my computer on to it, i now love it. So many interesting things to listen to and as B.T says you can listen via your computer. Good Podcasting...............

There might be other options, but I find the Classic iPod a wonderful tool for this sort of stuff.

The software that comes with it (iTunes) handles podcasts with ease.  All ya do is tell it which podcasts you're interested in.  Then when you connect your iPod to your PC, iTunes heads off and gets the latest file and it's a breeze to put it onto your iPod.

I think I've seen the 30 gig version for a couple of hundred bucks.  Great technology and I'd recommend it.  emthup

Some are video clips (video podcasts), but most are just audio... I wouldn't bother trying to embed them into posts - most youtube videos are around 2mb, video podcasts are around 60-100mb... not going to stream too well - not that they'd stream anyway I'd think.

You can download iTunes he

http://www.apple.com/itunes/

You don't need an iPod, it's all free (unless you go and start buying songs and stuff from them... podcasts are free though)... I'm sure there are plenty of other apps out there beside iTunes that will search and download podcasts for you.

Or you can just search around and find podcasts manually (google is a good place to start!) and download them as you come across them - most radio stations have daily podcasts of their shows - Hamish and Andy have several that are really popular.

The ABC put up all the Gardening Australia episodes gratlog - you can set it up to grab them for you each week.

Hamish and Andy currently have the most popular Australian podcast on iTunes... although I don't bother downloading it either, I do catch about 15min of them on the radio each afternoon though which is good.

This is the link to Greg Radley's punters post mortem show with Dufficy and Deane Lester from March 2nd. Good wrap of the weekends racing. Glad I found this as Ive really missed 2ky since moving to Brisbane. Queensland Radio Tab is pathetic compared to the NSW version. The sports show they have in the a.m is unbelievably bad compared to the Big Sports Breakfast. Maybe if they merge the pools we can get access to these broadcasts.
