A few years back I had a mate whose wife lost a race on protest at Fairfield--the protest was lodged by a driver who failed to finish after breaking gear

Surely she will protest against that first winner at Rosehill.

Had it shot to bits but Liberation shied at something - probably the whip.

Must say I agree with the caller Liberation was holding Press Report safely with 100m to go & would have won easily if ran straight. Shied badly but never contacted 2nd horse or affected the momentum so to me, it's really a suprise they uphold the protest.
I've seen lots of races where horses take others 6 wide off the track but not upheld due to no contact.

She had to steady Press Report when Liberation cut across it and the final margin was a half head - had to be upheld.

Every person at my Sports Club couldn't believe Liberation lost his race on protest...led all the way no contact was holding the 2nd horse both got their run slightly interrupted when he ran out....looks like stewards are dirty with Gai and are going to show her.
No I'm not talking between my teeth he carried no money of mine today.

There may have been no "contact", but there was clearly interference, you can see Costin trying to drag the "winner" to the inside of Liberation but can't do so due to the other horse taking him off the course.  I would also dispute that Liberation had the other horse beat, watching it looked to me like Liberations run had ended - the "winner" took a length of him in the last 75 metres when they both straightened up - that was probably the key fact in the decision.

Probably one of the easiest uphelds in a while.

First across the line hampered the second horse by more than the final margin. I was surprised they even bothered to hold the hearing.

I'm in the "had to be upheld" camp.

Manikato... Liberation was a length clear when he ran out so why did Costin try to go out with him to then change her mind?...after watching Retro this morning the runner up didn't alter it's pace only direction which was the jocks fault whereas Liberation put his interruption on himself and like the guys said on Retro he goes straight he wins by 1L...a winner all the way...the stewards are stupid...donkey punters were the only ones who agree with the upholding..the experts don't agree with it...after seeing the replay this morning I totally agree with the experts.

Replay is up on Racing Network.

http://www.racingnetwork.com.au/

I reckon Press Report was checked for a stride or two which cost it the race - IMHO.
