It certainly did Wily but it seems to start ducking in as the other comes out under it.

It would be remiss of me not to point out that Pike had the whip in the wrong hand and the horse ducks in as soon as he strikes it

Race 1. AMELIA PARK HANDICAP (1000m)

An objection lodged by Jockey W Pike, rider of the second placed BILLY RAY against the winner JUST A PINCH (P Knuckey) alleging interference passing the 100m,was dismissed.

Stewards were of the opinion that JUST A PINCH commenced to shift ground outwards prior to the 100m and shortly after,BILLY RAY had commenced to shift ground inwards when being ridden along with the whip and passing the 100m had become crowded from the heels of JUST A PINCH, having to be restrained. Stewards attributed the interference caused to BILLY RAY passing the 100m to be as a result of a contribution of JUST A PINCH shifting outwards and BILLY RAY shifting inwards. Further,taking into consideration that the incident occurred passing the 100m,the margin of a length and a quarter between the two runners and that Stewards could not be fully satisfied had the incident not occurred that BILLY RAY would have beaten JUST A PINCH to the line, the objection was dismissed.

Jockey P Knuckey (JUST A PINCH) was reprimanded under the provisions of AR131(a) for careless riding for allowing his mount to shift outwards when not fully clear of BILLY RAY (W Pike) passing the 100m which in the opinion of the Stewards was the major contributing factor to that runner becoming crowded and having to be restrained. Stewards were further of the opinion that there had been a shift inwards from BILLY RAY as JUST A PINCH was shifting ground outwards passing the 100m which had been a contributing factor to BILLY RAY becoming crowded and having to be restrained.

Do these blokes actually watch races

The margin is what it is due to the interference, not for any other reason! Like I said if they both go straight then Billy Ray wins going away.

I didn’t bet in the race but if you backed the Mark Currie-trained Junction at Eagle Farm on Saturday I reckon you can consider yourself stiff with the protest by Get Stuck In being upheld.
The eventual winner had an eternity to come out from behind the leader but continued to lay in - I believe costing itself the chance of winning the race.

In a humorous twist the rider of Junction, Michael Rodd who apparently caused the interference never received any penalty but the subsequent winning rider Leah Kilner was suspended for eight days for causing So You Win to blunder.

How was the Warrnambool Cup not a protest?.....4th versus 2nd.

Big problem with multiple entries from big stables......someone probably needs to run something by someone

....conflicts galore!
John Allen came off the rails on the favourite and hit South Pacific.....not once, but twice and them flattened him for good measure.

South Pacific was motoring at the finish......surely he was denied his rightful line by Heart of Puissance !
Stewards must be blind.

2nd beat 4th three lengths

There was a bump and I suspect Allen gets suspended.

No grounds to protest.

Protest would have resulted in a fine for the 4th jockey for frivolous.

Surely the extended time before correct weight was called would suggest something was going on.

Funny thing, South Pacific's jock basically just gave up and then without a lot of riding the horse grabbed the bit on his own.
When the vision gets back to the leaders past the line, South Pacific is in front.

Like I said he was entitled to the line he was on and I'd say Allen will get a good holiday.
Nothing frivolous.....just gutless stewards......should be their call in these circumstances.

Allen knew he was bolting, he'd marked time from about the 500 and was desperate for something to open up, still shouldn't have barrelled his way out. Strangely as he had the right blinker on the gap opened up right in front of him to go under Constantinople, wouldn't have lost his forward momentum taking that gap either.

Was a tragedy beaten imho.

Seems that the "bump" has been deemed "reckless riding"
John Allen gets 20 meetings......good riddance.....give him double.

Absolutely no way a "tragedy beaten"....he needs to be good enough to hold a better position.
Top weight comes from an outside barrier and was way too good.

The ratings said Le Don De Vie was the best and so it proved.....just needed to be away from the concrete at Flemington.
2nd best horse came 4th the way I see it.

I'll be interested to see if the trainers stick to their claim......"we'll follow wet tracks" with him.
I was very keen to have something on him when they brought him to a wet Sydney.......should have won them both.
The big fellow does look a bit "scratchy" on firm ground.....wouldn't want to be anywhere near a Flemington "good 3"

Always had a big rap on him hence the short prices.
We'll see where we are with him in 12 months or so

WARNAMBOOL CUP -- A PROTEST AGAINST INFLATED FIELDS

John Allen gets 20 weeks ......... administrators keep their jobs.

........ a classic illustration of the problems when fields are inflated with no-hopers ....... too many 'could not wins' cluttering up the field and the rider on the favourite is penalized for 'getting out' and trying to win.

................ the administrators are due for a holiday.

You would almost bet your last dollar that Peter didn't even watch the Warrnambool Cup.

There is absolutely no excuse for that type of riding , wouldn't matter how much money is on.
Racing with all of it's silly cliches i.e...."riding for luck".....if you are well back on the rail, a whole lot of luck will indeed be needed.

Wouldn't matter what sport you are in, having something charge into you from the side is bloody dangerous.

It was a close go at Doomben today in the race 7 a real head bobber AXE protested against Snowzone after it was beaten by a nose..a matter of an inch or two the protest was dismissed stewards said AXE bumped SNOWZONE watching the race live it looked to me that AXE was bumped by SNOWZONE it appeared to have been put off stride ..stewards inquiries aren't shown on TV and the head on isn't shown in replays
