JWH, getting a little picky are we?

"In days of Yore many horses won 2 races on the same day....in the 1950's a horse won 2 consecutive races on the same day, just 35 minutes apart.....what was it's name?"

I can't find where it states Metro meetings only.

It was still a TAB meeting and my post was purely to add interest to the forum's discussion.

JWH, maybe a nice Sunday roast and a bottle of red may calm you down.

Mort

I know Metrop wasn't stated but was assumed (by me).

And I wasn't complaining about your post - it did add to the discussion.

Methinks that you need the calming influence of a nice Sunday roast and a bottle of the finest rather than my good self.

. . and here was I searching without success, for  track records for the "Yore" racetrack . . and by JWH's footy post, Yore also had an NRL team  :bash:

Anyway just a couple of months ago a horse called Zatochio won 2 in the one afternoon . . and it was a long way from any metro track, which suits us bushies fine

Where was it ??. . and I will allow a little bit of cheating

Well done . .

And great to see that you follow country racing

I doubt that even Racing Queensland would know that postcode . .

Possibly not even the first digit

Obviously know one knows who the horse was that won 2 consecutive races on a city track in the 1950's, it's name was Belmont Park.....................Mick Mallyon got a long Holiday in the 1960's for allegedly pulling one up, what was it's name? hint : it was a classy sprinter

Do not know about Maritana winning two races in the one day , but he did win two maidens. What was his name when he won his second maiden ?

I have been away and it is good to see Quiz is back. I posted this question on 15th of June. Who am I? I trained greyhounds to win on both Sydney tracks. I also trained pacers and trotters who won races at Harold Park and interstate. I also trained gallopers and won races at Randwick and Rosehill.

Col that doesn't ring a bell at all......but will have a wild guess....Harold (Speed) Riley?? he was a leading trainer at Warwick Farm back in the 60's,  he won a Brisbane Cup with Kamikaze, I think Kamikaze may have also won a Villiers........I know he also trained pacers, Twinkle Hanover would have been his best......not sure he trained Greyhounds though........second Guess would be David Royal who won a Sydney Cup(as a Jockey) on Zinga Lee, can't remember if he trained Thoroughbreds and also trained and drove pacers.....again Greyhounds is a weak link in my knowledge

for those who were confused by my previous post, Maritana was the horse Mick Mallyon was on outed after a doubtful ride in the 60's.........he wasn't the horse who won 2 consecutive races on a metro track back in the 50's......That was Belmont Park

I remember Merv Adams as a trot trainer, and do recall him training racehorses.......I think from Canterbury..........but very limited in the greyhound arena.....I remember Zoom Top.....that is about the beginning an end of my memory for the dishlickers
