RacingNSW -- NEW BOARD MEMBERS

RNSW is looking to fill three spots on its board.

It would be interesting to see the brief given to the selection panel.

One might wonder about the implications of:

..................it is the duty of each appointed member of Racing NSW to act in the public interest and in the interests of the horse racing industry as a whole in the State.  and

.............have an appreciation of the issues affecting the thoroughbred racing industry.

I for one am not sure that an obligation 'to act in the public interest' can be reconciled with  'the interests of the horse racing industry as a whole in the State.'

...............persona-non-grata

Disappointment for the wily one.

In 2004 The parliament of NSW passed legislation through both houses making it clear that 'one person' was never again to be appointed to any racing industry policy committee. It was high praise.

The then  recommended appointment, made by an independent public-interest body, was for that 'one person' to be reappointed as the consumer representative.

Alas ............... no one was ever appointed again and another law was passed to remove the consumer representative position.
