Paul Richards (?) wrote a really interesting article in last weekends Winning Post.

I was always of the belief that he died straight after the Perth Cup but according to Richards that is not quite true as he race 4 weeks later.

So why wasn't the horse swabbed later that day or the next day?

He went virtually flat out the whole way didn't he? I remember it being all very bizarre at the time.

Rocket Racer was not on elephant juice and his trainer Buster O'Malley could have made a fortune suing journalists who incorrectly state the facts, but he is not that way inclined, in fact he is a gentleman.

As far as elephant juice goes, WA is the only state that ever caught anyone using it and if you think that it was only being used in WA then you are mistaken. It is an indictment on racing authorities in other states that they never caught anyone, and an indictment on all that they have never caught anyone for epo or hgh.

If Leon Corstens trained in WA he would have got life after his third drug conviction, he has now had seven or eight drug convictions and is still training in the wild wild east.

not on elephant juice, what planet are you on,also laurie connells 2 main trainers were omalley and george way, laurie would do anything to win a quid, and they were willing accomplices, the legalities never came into it,then he wins a perth cup in the astonishing way rocket racer did,and you say he wasn't geared up,FFS

I remember my old man telling me about  this when i was a youngster. He always told me the horse was so 'high' that he was floating down the straight.  8)

Judgey, no horses from Buster O'Malleys stable were on elephant juice, they were the most expensive horses in Australia at the time and were trained from Austalia's premier private training facility. Buster was not that good a trainer that he could get Rocket Racer to fake heat exhaustion in order to avoid a swab. All of Busters other winners at the time that George Way went were cleared.

Now George Way is another matter, and it is a pity that the useless Eastern States authorities could'nt get a few scalps or at least one.

grega,if you don't think RR was on elephant juice, thats your prerogative, and if you think only cheap horses are doped up,thats also your prerogative, anyone who watched the way he won(anyone unbiased that is)knows that that horse had a performance enhancing drug in him,but he was never swabbed for it,so officially, you are right
